Earlier this week, Outkick founder Clay Travis told Fox News that a variety of issues are plaguing the Tokyo games.
---SNIP---
"I think that an attack of America, an attack on American exceptionalism by the media, which is real, has certainly undercut a lot of Americans' joy and excitement in celebrating America," Travis said.Travis gets it. Suck this lemon, NBC.

The lower viewership should have been factored into the bids for this event to begin with, so it would be expected to make a profit. Lower US ratings for an Olympics hosted in Asia (12 hour time difference??) is pretty common knowledge.
The negative publicity about the gymnast would be a surprise, though, and could have an impact on the final numbers.

I saved the “Archery” competitions on my TV so I could watch with the ability to forward past the commercials.
NBC is apparently spilt screening events with commercials playing on one side while events show on the other.
I suspect that they have doubled the number of commercials (corporate sponsors) so it is possible that they’re doing ok financially.
I believe that the only reason Tokyo is having the Olympics is so that they can recoup some of the money they’ve spent on the whole thing.

I also think that IOC wanted the Olympics to go on...Olympics TV right money is probably the biggest source of income for IOC...
No Olympics this year...Then maybe NBC would ask IOC to pay the money back...NBC paid IOC money for broadcast rights...
