Arkansas governor declares public health emergency, announces special session on mask law

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson on Thursday declared a public health emergency amid a surge in COVID-19 cases and announced a special legislative session to change a law that prevents public schools from requiring masks.

Hutchinson said the declaration will allow the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management to seek staffing assistance from health workers outside the state. It also eases the process for retired health workers to re-enter the workforce and for medical students to become licensed.

The Republican governor said the White House is sending federal assistance at his request.

A previous emergency declaration expired May 30 as cases declined and vaccinations increased...

I worry that those making the policies will have all of us standing on our heads because of the behavior of those who think that freedom does not require responsibility.

It would be a good service to the American people if some agency would provide a chart listing the Governor of each state and how many illegals they have allowed to be brought into their state. And what authority was given by the people in their state to saddle them with all of the expenses that accompany this generosity of the governors? The chart should also list the covid cases for each day the illegals are in the state. Asa is a lame duck so no longer hides his devotion to the RINO politicians and Deep Stater friends. Much as I like Sara Huckabee and believe she would be an excellent choice for Gov, I will not just take her conservatism for granted. Leslie Rutledge, AG, is also a consideration and will be a consideration for Gov if she runs. Rinos do not need to get by with faux conservatism this next election cycle.

FR is like any gathering of people, a little slice of society.

But society is more coarse, more in your face, less acting in good faith.

The COVID-19 threads beingbout the worst in some people. When people are wishing others to get ill from either a vaccination or COVID-19, there’s a problem.

And plus, many people say things online and act in certain ways that they would never say and act in person. Online bravado and all that.

Conservatives, libertarians and Republicans are at each other’s throats quite a bit re: COVID-19. A recently retired co-worker, very liberal, used to read some of the COVID-19 threads and just laughed. “You guys are eating each other alive - thanks!” he used to joke.
