The founder of Shake Shack, Danny Meyer, said his Union Square Hospitality Group will require indoor diners and drinkers at its restaurants to show that they’ve been vaccinated against COVID-19.
Employees will also have to get the vaccine, Meyer said, although he didn’t say whether they would be fired or be forced to wear masks.
However, the policy will not be extended to Shake Shack, a hamburger fast-food restaurant that has a number of locations in the northeastern United States.
The policy will be implemented at the Union Square Hospitality Group, which oversees Gramercy Tavern, Manhatta, and Union Square Cafe. The group operates Anchovy Social in Washington, D.C., as well.
Meyer made the announcement about his restaurant’s vaccine policy on CNBC, saying the vaccine requirement is “the most logical thing I’ve ever seen.”
“I’m not a scientist, but I know how to read data and what I see is that this is a crisis of people who have not been vaccinated, and I feel strong responsibility, on our part as business leaders, to take care of our team and our guests, and that’s what we’re doing,” he added.
Meyer, who is the chairman of Shake Shack’s board, added: “We’re going to give our employees 45 days to make the choice and hopefully this will be the incentive that really makes them say, ‘You know what, now I’m going to do it.'”

Too bad hes not reading that the vast majority of people getting COVID have already been vaccinated! What a dumbass.
Not go to Shake Shack? And miss the, ah, vigorous debates held by local denizens over the origins of calculus and the significance of Kant’s Categorical Imperative in modern life? I am depressed.
“Will be interesting to see how his business fares.”
That was my first thought as well.
But what are the odds that businesses who tow the government line with these mandates also get a little something for their allegiance to the cause?
After all, our politicians LOVE to throw whatever money they have to around to achieve their goals...
He’s the founder of Shake Shack - so fk that place with him in it.
Actually, I’m thinking they don’t want black customers, since blacks are vaccinated at a rate far lower than whites.
“However, the policy will not be extended to Shake Shack,”
Too bad, I wanted to see the company go under.
How soon does he plan to file for bankruptcy?
It makes perfect business sense: alienate and ban about half your customer base.
“ However, the policy will not be extended to Shake Shack”
Does no one read the damned articles?

What you think that excuses the Marxist wannabe?
Will the Ape Army step in to prop it up like they did with that Game thing?
I’ve heard that the Shake Shacks are pretty good but they have only recently come into my area. I can take them or leave them (Five Guys is very good, clean and nice people).
If there is an alternative to the Shake Shack, I’d take the “Love Shack” where if you get a disease there, at least you’ll know what it is and that there are reliable medicines to cure them.
I actually like “Roam” better than “Love Shack” but they were both great songs to dance to at parties, and I liked the red head (either Kate Pierson or Cindy Wilson).
Here’s a great idea. Don’t go into a Shake Shack.
