The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol heard testimony from four police officers present in the melee.
The hearing was often emotional, reflecting on the violence of the day. Officers explained they feared for their lives as they were sprayed with bear spray and brutally beaten with a variety of weapons, detailed the disturbing level of racism espoused by the mob and urged the committee to investigate every aspect of what caused the riot.
Here are five takeaways.
1. Officers want a thorough investigation of the Capitol attack
Metropolitan Police Officer Daniel Hodges said, “I need you guys to address if anyone in power had a role in this; if anyone in power coordinated or aided or abetted or tried to downplay, tried to prevent the investigation of this terrorist attack. I think the majority of Americans are really looking forward to that.”
U.S. Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn said,
“If a hit man is hired and kills somebody, not only does the hit man go to jail, but the person who hired them does. Someone sent them. I want you to get to the bottom of that.”

3. Witnesses: Mob hurled racial slurs at police officers
From waving the Confederate flag to calling officers the N-word, the witnesses at Tuesday’s hearing testified about the racism and xenophobia that was on display.
Hodges described the attack as a “white nationalist insurrection.” He said that “the crowd was overwhelmingly white males,” noting the presence of organizations with ties to white supremacy.
4. ‘You’re on the wrong team’
Hodges noted that he saw multiple flags being carried by the rioters that indicated themselves as Christians.

“The investigation is going to go wherever it may lead,” Cheney said. “The events of that day at the White House are a focus and making sure we get to the bottom of everything that went on, every minute of the day.”
Some of the officer testimony on Tuesday focused on Trump’s role.
“It’s upsetting,” Gonell said. “It’s a pathetic excuse for his behavior, for something he, himself, helped to create, this monstrosity.
“There was nobody else,” Gonell added. “It was not antifa, or Black Lives Matter, or the FBI. It was his supporters that he sent over to the Capitol that day.”
Was there some kind of riot back in January?

A kangaroo court serves to give an appearance of something other than political retribution.
This is all cast from the perspective that justice is applied to groups, not to individuals.
Way too much of the coverage of the Jan 6 trespassing event has been written from this perspective.
Well, based on the absolutely pathetic capitol.police, if there were an actual insurrection, it would be the new autonomous zone.
One crying, one couldn’t speak English - laughable to think they are the ones protecting these dirty politicians.
Yes there was some rioting back on Jan 6th but not by 95% of the people who were in DC to hear speeches and protest the corruption of the corrupt Democrat/Marxist Democrat Party.
It took only a few thugs and wackos to ruin a legitimate protest that was held without shooting/killings, arson, looting, laser attacks on law enforcement officers, etc.
I saw only ONE Confederate flag in all the photos/films that I watched.
Imagine if just one Israeli flag (used as a symbol of just a presence at an event) were in that Jan. 6th crowd, every anti-Semitic Islamofascist or Islamomarxist in Congress would still be on the floor of the Capitol protesting “Zionist Aggression/Annexation and Genocide” and the Leftist media would demand that we invade Israel to seize every Israeli flag in existence.
You can substitute Rep. of Vietnam (So. Vietnam, Royal Laotian and Republic of Cambodia/Khmer Republic) flags for the Israeli one and you would get the same reaction from the Left and its politically corrupt Democrat Party-ass kissing media.
