It appears that the people against CoVID are ramping up the attacks today — funny it always happened midweek

CDC is wrong about the spread of disease asymptomatic
Fauci continues to be a total idiot
These are the agencies that have politicized this and cost a sever harm to the United States

We continue to see nil critically ill that are vaccinated and scant hospitalized cases that are vaccinated.

Of note I agree with he former head of the FDA, we will be through the worst of this quickly — next couple weeks — see England and their drop

I continue to hold that at the end of delta herd immunity will exist between vaccinated and natural immunity

Florida and Southern States tend to lead in the United States and it spreads inwardly — suspect the same will happen here.

Wow… Louisiana’s 7-day average “case” count is back to where it was at its January peak. Fortunately their 7-day average deaths, while up, is nowhere near their January peak death rate.

Herd immunity approaches.

No, and it is hard to understand the veracity as there is no detail. I would ask what are the differences — it seems to me this is a gripe without substation from someone who may not understand what they are looking at.

Prior to the Delta variant (R0 approaching 8 vs 4.5-5.3 for previous variants), we had reached the overall herd immunity threshold and saw a steady, strong decrease in cases and deaths around the country. It’s going to take another 24 - 25 million cases and vaccinations to reach it again. It’ll happen, but it’ll take some time.

If I’m not mistaken, CDC’s new guidance is based on one small study that hasn’t been peer reviewed. Seems ridiculous that they’ll take a year to admit there’s no outdoor spread and update their guidance accordingly, but the instant somebody makes a claim about the vaccinated carrying high viral loads of Delta, they’re Johnny-On-The-Spot with new guidance.

Louisiana has the fifth lowest rate of vaccination in the country. Watch them, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Alabama over the next 3-4 weeks and contrast that with how Vermont, Massachusetts, and Maine (most vaccinated three) do during the same period.

“…the instant somebody makes a claim about the vaccinated carrying high viral loads of Delta, they’re Johnny-On-The-Spot with new guidance.”
******************************************************************
I’m guessing that the swabs of the mucous membrane of the vaccinated who have been infected are picking large amounts of viral fragments and dead viruses from the slaughter of COVID-19 viruses that takes place in the battlefield on those membranes. If the viruses could, they’d turn around and flee to another potential host once they saw that battlefield.

Of course, this is a fanciful description of what I, as a layman who is not an MD, envision a fully vaccinated immune system’s response to new COVID-19 virus exposure.

My guess is that the see the data, and know that the Delta wave is starting to hit, and will hit hard - so they are posturing with these new mask policy recommendations to try to get out in front of it politically. Trying to look like they are in control.

Objectively, they probably should have some planned thresholds, that would trigger policy changes and protective measures (Cases and Hospitalizations have now risen to such levels), but it seems to me that they are deliberately twisting the data on transmissibility, to justify the new mask recommendations politically.

Yep...Watching these states as well:

“The next few weeks will tell us how states like Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, and Wyoming—which have low vaccination rates and an increasing number of infections—will be affected...” source

Perhaps for the unvaccinated they are applying a poultice concocted from eye of newt and toe of frog? In the absence of detail, the imagination can run wild.

I’m thinking the absence of detail is intentional and is meant to mislead the reader into thinking a lower standard of care is being applied to the unvaccinated compared to the vaccinated. Which, IMHO, is RIDICULOUS.

With all due respect, this makes no sense in regards to how mRNA vaccines work.

The high visibility of the Texas Democrats during their flight to DC stunt being infected cannot be underestimated in the political calculus.

On a related note, with the increased infectiousness of the Indian variant, it’s been assumed an 80% immune rate is needed for herd immunity. That may not hold if the transmissibility from the vaccinated is not as good as hoped. Thoughts?

Really? You don’t think the mRNA vaccines trigger the body to produce antibodies and otherwise prep the body’s immune system to fight the virus that causes COVID-19? And that the prepared immune system is ready to fight future virus exposures quickly?

Yes, it is someone who has read the internet and is seeking 15 minutes of fame — there is no way someone not in the lab would know this
Additionally to reset and recalibrate the machines would be a real burden — it is not a realistic tweet.

“Louisiana’s 7-day average “case” count is back to where it was at its January peak. Fortunately their 7-day average deaths, while up, is nowhere near their January peak death rate.”

When the rest of the unvaccinated areas of the Country catch up over the coming weeks, we could see some pretty high peak on the cumulative National chart, because Delta flares up quicker than the wave that peaked in January.

Nationally, cases and hospitalizations started moving after the Fourth of July Weekend, and have been accelerating since. Deaths started moving about a week later, but so far have been rising along a more moderate straight line, rather than an accelerating curve.

If President Trump’s former FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb is correct, our peak will be in 2-3 weeks. But if, like the the UK, our peak comes at about 7 weeks, then we will be rising through most of August. The COVID Modeling Hub’s most likely scenario predicts peak in October, but today we exceeded that scenario’s peak daily new case number.

It may be too early to see how the death curve will play out, but it is looking like cases and hospitalizations will hit some highs, that will make it a big news story/political issue next month.

Maybe the big outbreaks will be more localized, and the National curves will peak sooner, if it turns out that our reservoir of total immunity is deeper. CDC has still not updated the total Estimated Disease Burden of COVID-19 through the second quarter yet: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/burden.html , so they are sitting on info we don’t know yet.

Do the FDA rules allow for ill children to be treated with monoclonals”+

As this layman understood their recent loosening of the rules they don’t.
Shame to let children die when we have such a good treatment.
