SYDNEY, July 28 – Australia’s biggest city, Sydney, extended a lockdown by four weeks on Wednesday after an already protracted stay-at-home order failed to douse a COVID-19 outbreak, with authorities warning of tougher policing to stamp out non-compliance.

Far from a planned exit from lockdown in three days, the city of 5 million people and neighboring regional centers spanning 120 miles of coastline were told to stay home until Aug. 28 following persistently high case numbers since a flare-up of the virulent Delta variant began last month.

Everybody locked down but cases grow? Must be Trumps fault or something.

Doesn’t work? Do more of it! It’s the liberal way.

The more you lock down... The greater it grows.

The only way this could work to stop a spread entirely is if literally everyone stayed in their homes and interacted with no one else outside of their homes in the entire area for 2-3 weeks.

Of course, many people would also starve to death.

“flatten the curve” strategy was only useful to blunt the initial first wave to allow time to prepare, etc. to avoid an Italy-type situation. It’s ultimately useless to keep doing lockdowns of this magnitude at this point.

Attempting to reach zero COVID is exactly what the morons running Australia are doing.

Thinking they can do it by attempting to, and actually doing it, are two different things.

They—nor any other government—will totally eliminate COVID. Like the common cold and influenza, COVID will be here with us always.
