In the name of Black gun owners, a coalition of progressive attorneys has thrown its weight behind an explosive attempt to eviscerate gun regulations.
Last week, the gun group got a major assist from criminal defense attorneys. Specifically, the Bronx Defenders, the Brooklyn Defender Services, and the Black Attorneys of Legal Aid. All of these groups represent indigent people accused of criminal conduct, who are often Black or Latinx citizens living in densely populated urban environments. The lawyers joined together to file an amicus brief supporting the position of the mostly upstate and rural interests of the Rifle & Pistol Association and arguing that New York State’s gun licensing requirements should be struck down as unconstitutional under the Second Amendment.

Oh, yeah! That will go over well with Democratic gun grabbers!
Pass the popcorn, please.
Gun control is racist, always has been.
Most public defenders are idealist liberals that’s why.
To say idealist liberals are pro 2A ?
Ping. Did you see this?
Wadda ya mean I need an ID to buy a gun?!?!?
Oh I read the headline wrong, I am a dummy.
Yes, working on an article. The brief is well done.
It’s definitely a counterintuitive headline:)
To be clear, the brief to the Supreme Court is well done, but the article by Mystal descends into farce, because she cannot reconcile her assumptions about reality with reality.
Sweet. Looking forward to it. Thank you.
Why the SCOTUS in the 1850s said blacks were NOT US Citizens...
What the SCOTUS thought about gun control in the pre Civil War era.
“It would give to persons of the negro race, who were recognised as citizens in any one State of the Union, the right to enter every other State whenever they pleased, singly or in companies, without pass or passport, and without obstruction, to sojourn there as long as they pleased, to go where they pleased at every hour of the day or night without molestation, unless they committed some violation of law for which a white man would be punished;
and it would give them the full liberty of speech in public and in private upon all subjects upon which its own citizens might speak; to hold public meetings upon political affairs,
and to KEEP AND CARRY ARMS wherever they went.”

do you have a link/ping list for when it’s done?
if so, i’d like to be on it
thx
I remember the good old days before the 1968 Gun Control Law.
Every store had guns for sale. Gas stations, pawn shops, hardware stores, book stores, bus stations, clothing stores, liquor stores, grocery stores.
No ID needed.
No background checks.
No waiting periods except in Cali.
No paperwork.
Cash and carry.
Or,
you could chose one from an ad in a gun magazine, drop a check in the mail and it would be shipped to you.
Then a Commie lover shot JFK, and a Palestinian Immigrant shot Bobby Kennedy, and the US went berserk. Today’s anti-gun hysteria is nothing like the madness of 1968-1984, when they suddenly discovered (Gasp) A-s-s-ault rifles!
\\Yes, working on an article. The brief is well done.
Do you have a link to the brief?
True.
Hey Elie Mystal:
Arson is NOT fire violence.
Rape is NOT penis violence.
Murder is NOT gun violence.
All the above are CRIMINAL VIOLENCE.
The writer confuses legal possession of a firearm with legally carrying a firearm. She quotes, “In 2020, while Black people made up 18 percent of New York’s population, they accounted for 78 percent of the state’s felony gun possession cases.” These people cannot legally possess a firearm because they are “prohibited persons” under the law. They will not apply for a permit to carry because they are prohibited from possessing.
It is difficult to predict when AmmoLand will publish, as there are other factors besides my wishes which are important to a commercial enterprise.
