NEW ORLEANS — When COVID-19 infection rates started dipping nationwide, Tyshauna Collins-Buy started getting lax on mask-wearing. But now that the delta variant is prompting another surge in cases, she's covering her face more these days.

"I almost felt like if you hadn't had COVID yet, you're not going to get it," said Collins-Buy, who has been visiting New Orleans from Tampa and heard Cantrell introduce her advisory Wednesday. "But I just learned about the variant, so I'm going to go back to wearing it."

Encourages mask use, but doesn't enforce it? What is the damn point?

It like encouraging people to wear bug spray at an outdoor concert.

Wearing a mask in NOLA is probably a good idea, ... gloves and a tyvec suit too. New Orleans is one of the nastiest cities I’ve been to.

......”New Orleans is one of the nastiest cities I’ve been to”.....

You’re not the first I’ve heard that about New Orleans.

New Orleans is awesome! My family went there for the first time for NYE 2019 and we had a fabulous time. We did a Plantation tour, a swamp tour to look for alligators, visited a Voodoo museum and a great WW 2 museum, and every night ate fabulous shrimp (best EVER) and other good food and listened to great jazz and other great music. And we walked around with our drinks outside. My teen was even tipped playing ragtime on a public piano open to all. Great fun. It was nice and mild on NYE. I can’t wait to go back for another trip.
