Depends on how shaken you were. Such a calamity happening to your home would put some people into a mental shock where clear thinking wasn't first and foremost.
I'm sure the police probably dropped a few balls on compiling these records, too. It was an unprecedented calamity.

I find it hard to believe that the number of missing, days after the collapse, was 153 or so. Dead is 98, so by my calculation there were over 50 people who were supposed to be there, but were not. Who were those 50 people? When did they notify authorities they were ok. Did they really live there? Did they receive government checks? Did they vote? Were those ‘secondary addresses’ for people who rented them out, but used the mailbox as a primary address? I have many questions, but nobody in the media seems to be asking.
