The White House extended US Travel restrictions today (26 July), due to the Delta variant. The current U.S. travel restrictions bar most non-U.S. citizens who have been in the U.K., European Union nations, Ireland, China, India, South Africa, Iran and Brazil within the last two weeks.
Central Florida's largest hospital chain is moving into the "red zone" due to a surge in coronavirus cases caused by the highly transmissible Delta variant.
On Monday, AdventHealth announced its ICU was moving to red status, just four days after it elevated its status to "yellow." Under red status, hospitals will begin rescheduling non-urgent elective outpatient surgeries in order to increase capacity on Tuesday. AdventHealth's ICU is currently full... 94 percent of the hospital system's patients are unvaccinated.
Dallas County’s (Texas) new COVID-19 cases are the highest they have been since March, and the number of people in the hospital due to coronavirus has tripled in the past month in North Texas.

Pfizer, Moderna expand studies of COVID-19 vaccine to children age 5 to 11. Regulators want sample sizes large enough to detect very rare adverse effects, specifically the myocarditis and pericarditis very rarely seen in people under 30 who had been vaccinated.
BioNTech SE said it would invest some of the profits from the Covid-19 vaccine it markets with Pfizer Inc. into developing shots for malaria and tuberculosis in Africa (for trials next year), part of the German company’s plan to establish a large production hub for innovative medicines on the continent.

34,413,532 cases is the total since COVID began (as confirmed by tests).
Below that there is a separate line for the past 30 days, depicted only by a trend line. The turning down at the end of the trend line, is just the two weekend reporting day delays - it will be revised up in the next day or two.

We were up to about 65K/day before the weekend.

Watching UK as a forecast for the US, they are finally seeing a decrease in cases, and a decrease in deaths should soon follow. This was without any increase in restrictions (though they might see a bump up following their big reduction in restrictions last week), so Delta has started to peter out over there, and was more of a “wave of cases” without high numbers of deaths thanks to the vast majority of vulnerable being immune. We have a little lower rate of vaccination/immunity among the most vulnerable than UK, but still near 90%.
Of course, there's still ZERO travel restrictions against anyone climbing, walking, or swimming in from the Mexican border. No papers, no vaccination, no problem!

The variables in the equation keep changing, as time goes on.
We have three main pots of immunity to add up: Vaccinated, previously exposed, or those who already have a cross-immunity from related coronavirus exposure (very little is published about that, and its not likely to change much).
Neither vaccination, nor natural infection, would likely go to 100%. Even highly infectious Delta variant will likely taper off when total immunity is running up through the eighties in percentage terms (its Herd Immunity Threshold).
They run models with different assumptions for how the variables might play out.
I think the bottom line, is that Delta will burn through the unvaccinated (taking a few vaccinated as well), until total (all source) immunity gets to Delta’s threshold (80-something%).
After that, there is unlikely to be another variant that is even more infectious, so after the Delta wave, COVID will probably subside to become a low level endemic disease, that just slowly picks off a few vulnerable for a long time.
