The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) on Monday become the first federal agency to require its frontline health care workers to be vaccinated.
President Joe Biden confirmed the move in a brief statement to reporters Monday afternoon.
'Yes. Veteran Affairs is going to in fact require that all docs working in facilities are going to have to be vaccinated,' Biden said, following a report quoting his Veterans Affairs secretary regarding health care workers at the VA.
115,000 staffers will have two months to get inoculated against the coronavirus, and face being fired if they do not oblige.
President Biden confirmed that 'all docs' at the VA would be asked to get the shot ahead of his meeting with the Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi in the Oval Office.
Denis McDonough, the secretary of veterans affairs, told the New York Times: 'I am doing this because it’s the best way to keep our veterans safe, full stop.
He added that the mandates would apply to the employees who have the most contact with patients.
This includes doctors, dentists, nurses, physicians assistants and physical therapists at VA medical centers across the country.
The Biden administration has so far been unwilling to back federal vaccine mandates, and has insisted it is up to private companies.
The move came after White House press secretary Jen Psaki said the White House 'supports the steps of hospitals' to require staff to get vaccinated, saying it 'could be a guide for us on what to do with our own workforce here from the federal government.'
She noted there are 'certain powers' that the federal government has, and 'certain powers that the federal government does not have.'

Your ability to remember facts from the past is inconvenient to the narrative.
Most of the HC workers are fat...
Not all but most.....
I’m a VN combat vet and don’t have any service connected issues (most wounds heal) and didn’t sign up for Medicare when I was age qualified but did register with the VA years before but never needed them until I got older. It just worked out that way.
We’ll have to see what transpires and I may use Medicare if the VA goes down hill. As I said, Trump did a remarkable job of getting the VA on track. Now the indicators are that it’s going down hill again.
Best wishes to you.
Why did the VA say 2 months?
“Yes. Veteran Affairs is going to in fact require that all docs working in facilities are going to have to be vaccinated,’ Biden said, following a report quoting his Veterans Affairs secretary regarding health care workers at the VA.
115,000 staffers will have two months to get inoculated against the coronavirus, and face being fired if they do not oblige.”
The Probable answer to why 2 months:
When might the vaccines be approved?
On 16 July, FDA accepted Pfizer’s application “under priority review”—meaning it will move faster than during standard reviews, which typically take at least 10 months; the agency now has until January 2022 to review the materials.
That seems like a long time, but last week an FDA official told CNN that the decision is likely to come within 2 months. “The review … has been ongoing, is among the highest priorities of the agency, and the agency intends to complete the review far in advance of the [January] Date,” an FDA press officer confirmed to Science in a statement.
Next up, all Vets will be vaccinated or you lose your benefits.
Then Medicare.
Then...

2 months? How does that make any sense???

Yeah, it was kind of obvious, but, hey, who am I to point it out?
Yours is an excellent example of how this is all so WRONG WRONG WRONG on so many levels. It is beyond criminal.
Thanks for sharing and all the best to you.
So what are we going to do if they mandate it for everyone?
“I am doing this because it’s the best way to keep our veterans safe”
What treatment do covid veteran patients receive in the VA hospitals?
Good to hear. thanks.
Democrats are seriously split over the vaccine. It will be fun watching their meltdown.
Stalling until authorization takes place...?
99% of doctors have been allegedly vaxed..... they can sign their own passports!!!!!!!!

You may have a difficult time getting into the VA if you can’t “prove” some sort of service related issue. I’m barely in at the lowest level available. It’s a matter of money as is most everything these days. Even my Senior Care Plus medicare supplement has big deductibles attached. Medicare is NOT free care. Even though the Senior Care Plus is a no cost supplement.
I hear there are plenty of fake vaccination on the market. I suspect they are about to get a high demand.
If it’s not authorization, then I wonder what happens in two months?
Deep State gives up on CoupFlu?
“Stalling until authorization takes place...”?
I think you nailed it. Then the mandatory for all kicks in, too.
Yes you can, at least as far as the federal government is concerned.
Most docs now work for health systems.
Health systems can fire after approval.
States can yank licenses to practice.
Note to docs hoping they’d be eaten last: Suckers!
