In 1980 I went down to the post office to register for the draft.

About 15 years later I applied for financial aid in college. I was told I didn’t register. What a crock of shiite.

So I said, “no problem, I’ll just re-register.” Then I was told I was TOO OLD.

I tried to work with my senator, Dianne Feinstein, to get this law fixed. She couldn’t do anything about it.

Now THERE is a Kafkaesque bureaucracy if ever there was one. Get rid of it.

I disagree with the Republicans on this one. Women should be subject to the draft should we ever need to implement it again. That’s equality.

If called they can fill noncombat roles that need to be filled. Way more of those roles exist to suport actual combat and frontline troops.

At the time I asked men my age if THEY ever got such paperwork. About a third of them did NOT.

No, I never got such bullshiite paperwork. This is one federal agency that should simply be obliterated. It can be replaced by 1 person at a desk checking social security numbers.
