Most families depend on two incomes now in order to provide for a decent lifestyle. I blame Congress for raising our taxes and the women’s movement for telling women they had to have a career if they wanted to be “fulfilled.” They worked in tandem and I’m starting to think it wasn’t a coincidence.

About 99% of us, IMHO, knew of people up to the late 1970s (feminism) who had a father who went to work and came back to a house they owned with food and education supplied by the father’s income. That is almost impossible today without a two income (or more) family involved. And how many own a house versus rent an apartment lately? Until housing crashes they are pretty expensive and last one day on the market.
