The French were one of our best allies during the founding of this nation. They had shit leadership during WWII. I know some good Frenchmen and women out there, and I would stand by them in solidarity over this BS.

They weren't so hot the first go round either. Thousands upon thousands of their best and brightest that made things go got marched into their doom by idiot commanders. That left a hell of a hole at every level in their society that helped set the stage for the sorrows of the 2nd one.
