According to the Proterra website, its vehicles have “proven themselves through more than 20 million miles of service in communities across North America, operating at a lower overall cost than a 35- or 40-foot diesel, hybrid, or CNG transit vehicle.”

Hyundai Elec City Bus Burns To The Ground In South Korea

So these buses were developed about the same time as the Chevy Volt, and Chevy stopped making the Volt 2 years ago. First generation tech and it didn't succeed.
It will be interesting to see how soon this agency goes back into electric buses in the future. Have they finished paying off the loans for the ones that were already in service, or will the taxpayers be making payments on the old ones and their replacements at the same time?

Bus catches fire in York [UK]

The two photos you posted are of the same fire. The second one is earlier than the first, from a slightly different angle, but it’s the same fire.

The electric bus fire in China looks an awful lot like the electric bus fire in Germany.

It’s California! They will order 1000 more of the same buses and start an advertising campaign to convince the folks that the buses are safe.

Maybe the bureaucrats realized that passengers are not to eager to be burnt alive.

Reminds me of WWII where a sneak attack wipes out most of the planes on the groundYes, but here the wipe out/destruction derives from known alternative energy zealots from within.

But yet CA will demand all gas vehicles be parked and everyone go to electric.

Ironically, LA had electric trolleys and the right of ways that ran all over the area into the valleys, until they switched to diesel in the late 40’s (or maybe early 50’s)

Yup.
The fence is exactly the same in both pics, and also the buses (except for the degree to which they were burned).
