Vietnam confirmed 3,950 domestic Covid patients in 27 localities Saturday night, pushing the day's tally to a new high of 9,225 cases as the country's two biggest cities tightened restrictions.
Of the night's tally, HCMC recorded 3,326 cases, followed by its neighbors Binh Duong (262), Dong Nai (99) and Ba Ria-Vung Tau (63).

Both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam's two biggest cities, have been imposing tougher social distancing restrictions which will be in effect for at least 15 days in the capital starting from Saturday and until at least August 1 in the southern metropolis.
This is sort of a problem.
95% of the Vietnamese still have no vaccinations.
No information regarding degree of symptoms?
No details yet, this was just a daily summary.
It is still Saturday night, so no further information is available yet.
There are a couple of possible new sources of vaccinations which have been talked about, but they are still considering.
If any countries have available vaccinations, please feel free to send some here.
Thank you.
Of course not because that would take the fear out of the information.
Global medical systems have not been near over-capacity since the first wave last year. That is when all restrictions should have ended and the main focus should have shifted to protecting the vulnerable and working on the vaccine.
It is a virus, folks. You cannot eradicate a virus. They mutate and live on forever. The Spanish Flu from 1918 still exists today in various mutated forms.
We flattened the curve in the first month and that is where it should have ended.
Thailand is hit hard also, especially around Bangkok.
But the medical systems are not overwhelmed. It does not matter how many infections are recorded.
is not the only significant number how may are hospitalized per day, not cases???
fear-porn...
Thanks for the info cba.
We have the Vietnamese channels on satellite so the wife is updated daily as to what’s happening in Vietnam concerning Covid and lockdowns.
Hang in there my friend.
Why so worried about Vietnam ?
I live here.
:)
I am from the States, and voted for Trump (one of his earliest supporters in fact) but now I am here.
We were told that summertime heat would stop Covid well it’s summer now so how come Covid is spiking, unless it’s BS.
Maybe.
For most of the last year Vietnam had almost no Covid cases. Everyone else rushed to prepare and got a jump on the available treatments early.
However with the D variant, apparently now it is tougher, and it seems to have basically been expanding every day now for about the last month.
There is thusfar almost no immunity in Vietnam, since everyone else grabbed the vaccine first.
Now we need some. Actually we need quite a large number of immunizations, we have only about 5% coverage thus far.
I tend to think the answer is the last three words of your sentence.
My wife is from Vietnam and her parents are still there. We want to return for a visit, but Covid makes it impossible. I’d love to see the US and other countries ship out as much vaccine as possible.
Treatements are imperfect, ivermectin might cut deaths to 1/4 of deaths without treatment but that's about it.
Actually if last year Vietnam had almost no Covid cases then that is the main reason thus far there is almost no immunity in Vietnam.
Yes and no.
I never see the state personally, though my wife no doubt interacts with it and it is no doubt entirely natural.
I find there is usually no evidence of the state for me. I work at a private company, and pay for health coverage privately. Police are rarely encountered and basically traffic is sort of chaos as a result. I did get in a significant accident which could have resulted in a bad result, but my wife showed up quickly and it was right near the hospital, so that was ok from the point of view.
That said, currently there is a HUGE government presence, basically the entire city is closed down.
But usually it is all entirely invisible. Vietnam is not China.
Huge difference. Massive.
I have lived here around 5 years now. I have also lived in China, Taiwan and of course America, where I was born.
This is not China.
Big, big difference.
Absolutely correct.
That is why we are currently struggling. All the other countries got vaccines quickly. Vietnam did not.
The other countries needed vaccinations. We did not, so we basically stood aside while everyone else got vaccines.
Now the D variety is rapidly spreading, and virtually nobody is vaccinated.
That is EXACTLY the problem.
Only 5% vaccine coverage yet. 95,000,000 people are not vaccinated yet.
America has sent 5,000,000 doses, thank you very, very much! But we need about 50,000,000 now.
How about it Biden?
:)
My point was that acquired immunity is being ignored, and it seems the places which kept its people from being infected inevitably end up with a pandemic, and that rather than extended all-ages restrictions and face masking outside and in, then allowing interaction btwn the fit and healthy should allowed. Vaccinations will not stop this.
