Israel's battle against the delta variant of the coronavirus is expected to last many months, Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz warned on Wednesday. "We expect to see an increase in cases of infection in the coming weeks, and unfortunately also in the number of seriously ill patients," he said at a news conference.
"We understand that the coronavirus won't soon disappear from the world. Our strategy is clear – living with the coronavirus," he said, adding that members of the public will have to demonstrate personal responsibility if restrictions that would affect daily routines are to be avoided.
Israel has among the highest coronavirus vaccination rates in the world, thanks to its early procurement of large quantities of Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19, but on Wednesday, the Health Ministry announced that the country's four HMOs would be provided with vaccine produced by Massachusetts-based Moderna and that inoculations with the Moderna vaccine would begin on August 1.

It takes 6 years to train a RN with a Bachelor’s. Longer for specialties. And, just like cops, staff can quit and go elsewhere. If we say, forget vaccines, let the pandemic run wild, how many will be around willing to work a covid unit when you need it? That’s not fear tactics either, that’s a real question in a real world.

I believe it is largely a business decision. They just got a better deal on their next batch of equivalent vaccine, to continue their existing vaccination program.
They have gotten excellent pricing on the vaccine they have purchased so far, and negotiated a very favorable delivery schedule. By diversifying suppliers, they maintain competition on price.
They may also have been rattled by the recent Israeli study that showed only 64% effectiveness of Pfizer against the Delta variant (fully vaccinated), but an American study published yesterday in the New England Journal of Medicine put Pfizer at 88% effective against Delta.
Pfizer may also have been rattled by that Israeli study (which may have been its intent - to pressure Pfizer). There has been some hardball going back and forth between Pfizer and Israel on vaccine deliveries and price. Israel even announced that they were halting payment at one point.
In any event, this Moderna order is to vaccinate new people, not for those already fully vaccinated.
How happy FRAUDci must be! He makes even more $$$ from the ModeRNA shots, since he’s an investor.
