A third state went into lockdown on Tuesday. Stay-at-home orders are now in place in South Australia, Victoria and parts of New South Wales.
Many people have expressed frustration at being back in highly policed lockdowns 18 months into the pandemic.
And re-openings in the UK and the US have put pressure on the government.
Fewer than 14% of people are vaccinated - the worst rating among OECD nations.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has been heavily criticised over the slow vaccination rate, but has resisted calls to apologise.
"No country has got their pandemic response 100%," he told reporters on Wednesday.
He again mentioned Australia's success in keeping overall infections low compared to those in many nations.
915 people have died of Covid in Australia. Mr Morrison noted that the UK had recorded more than 90 deaths in a single day on Tuesday.

Isn’t austrailia one of those woke countries with more than half the population jabbed already?
Time for Australian Patriots to march on to Canberra and put the government out of business.
Isn’t it wintertime in Australia?
Maybe it’s just the flu that disappeared last year
In Australia!: The natives there are restless and on the move!
CoupFlu has NEVER been about public health.
Fewer than 14% of people are vaccinated - the worst rating among OECD nations.
And same as Japan. Seems there are a lot of smart people in both countries.
I wouldn’t give the Aussie people any credit—they have had vaccine supply logistical problems—millions of the sheeple are begging to get jabbed.
I don't know the state of Oz's economy but Rat Party Headquarters sure did a good job of bringing *our* economy to its knees. I just saw the other day that the unemployment rate in Massachusetts in December 2019 was 2.8%...and in July 2020 it was 11.8%...all thanks to our Trump hating RINO Governor.
“Anger my butt. If there was anger the people would be hitting the streets pissed off.”
They ain’t French...

According to the article, in plain site above...
Fewer than 14% of people are vaccinated - the worst rating among OECD nations.
According my reliable source in Victoria, the vaccine is currently restricted right now to those over the age of 60 years old,
and those who are in the healthcare professions, or in hospital.
The Pfizer vaccine has only become available recently to Australia, and the lockdown that was set to expire today in Victoria,
has just been extended for another five days.
They've been disarmed by their Government. If the hadn't have been ...

Low vaccination rate...!ow infection rate.
Sounds like some kind of connection.
All lockdowns accomplish is extend the pandemic over a longer time period — multiple years — until herd immunity is reached. While you’re stretching out that pandemic you are going to see mutated forms of the virus each year or flu season. Each will in turn get their crack at the non-immune in the population.
Australia’s problem is that the officials want people to vaccinate, but the population is really not on-board. Same here, but more people opted to take the vaccines and we still have 40% who haven’t taken the jab. But when you consider the percentage of the population that already had COVID and add them to the vaccinated population (allowing for some overlap) we are probably at herd immunity now.
So you have to ask yourself: With the current apparent rise in infection rates, what the heck is going on?
The speed of spread should have covered the US already. This will not go away. Either live with it or stay scared. People need to try to limit comorbidities, don't be fat, don't smoke and improve their health. Winter will bring these numbers up again, that is life.
