While white liberals littered your Instagram feeds with black squares and Washington, D.C.'s, elite donned kente cloths to take a knee for George Floyd, the Beltway's black residents who live across the Anacostia River were being shot and murdered in disproportionate numbers, bringing the district's overall homicide count to a 16-year high. But you would hardly realize the violent crime crisis engulfing the nation's capital until this weekend, when the violence finally came to the doorstep of D.C.'s elite.
During a Saturday baseball game at Nationals Park, one Arlington woman who had left the game to wait for an Uber was caught in the crossfire of two cars shooting at each other. Despite the fact that the shooting had no actual relation to the game, the chaos from the sound of the gunfire forced not just a premature end to the game but also a national news cycle about D.C.'s crime problem.
While the supposedly most woke activist class in the country was screaming about defunding the police in the name of racial justice, D.C's least privileged black residents paid the price. Despite comprising just 22% of the district's overall population, Wards 7 and 8, where more than 9 in 10 residents are black, comprise more than half of last year's homicides. The same is true of armed assaults from this point last year to now. But because one cop more than 1,000 miles away murdered an unarmed black man (a crime for which he is rotting in prison in part because other cops testified against him), D.C. continued its ridiculous push to defund the police, putting actual black lives in jeopardy to appease the activist class.

They keep us divided. They do their best to intensify anger and distrust between us. That way, we don’t notice what they’re doing to us.
They also ignore the targeting of low-income, and thus black neighborhoods, with Planned Parenthood abortion mills. Again, only certain black lives matter.
BLM is not about caring about blacks.
It’s just a method to a goal.
The goal being control of the people.
It’s the same kind of ideas that the democrats have used since time immemorial.
It’s the same as “for the children”. It’s the same as ‘taking care of the poor’. It’s the same as caring for the planet. It’s the same as ‘treating women equally’. It’s the same as ‘equity’. It’s the same as ‘critical race theory’. It’s the same as calling anybody that disagrees with them, ‘racist’. It’s their demands to defund the police. It’s the same as eliminating borders.
Woke is the newest term they’re using, and it’s used to cover all of those democrat terms of the past and present. Put all the wrong democrat ideas together, and who can be against them?
It’s all about justifying and rationalizing all of their demands. If you don’t comply, you are racist or you are simply evil.
Wokeness needs to be dealt a death blow.

Ive heard somebody say that Nationals Park is in a bad neighborhood, and that they would never go to a night game there. But somebody else who lives in the Wash DC area said that its an up and coming area with a lot of urban renewal happening.
Pelosi should say a prayer to St. Floyd for them.
Nationals Park is adjacent to the Navy Yard and about one quarter mile from the Marine barracks at 8th and I. Since the opening of the ballpark the entire area has undergone a renaissance.... lots of new townhomes and condominiums and restaurants and hotels. It has become one of the better neighborhoods in The District. I was just there Sunday afternoon.
But in The District, as in other American cities, you are never far from bad areas. Go less than one mile east from the ballpark and the Navy yard, and it's ... bad. And spillover occurs. Any thug can get in a car or even walk over and there are plenty of targets of opportunity.
That being said the shooting Saturday evening was probably a gang related drive-by.
Also being said, the District political leadership under Muriel Bowser is ... pathetic.
The Black "mob" above all want leftist politicians who say the proper slogans of perceived economic "injustice," victimhood and racial bias. They want black politicians who say the right things, regardless of how many "black on black" murders there are.
Blacks killing other blacks has always been a distant secondary issue for urban citizens. Its been the same for 60 years. The primary goal for the group, rather, is maintaining the assumptions and attitudes which make up their cognitive framework. Politicians will always just fall into line behind that.
It seems that criminal black lives have more importance than just about any other segment of our society.

Not ridiculous at all. It’s a way to get rid of the white cops so they can be replaced with well-connected blacks without having to negotiate with police unions.
DC liberals dont give a damn about real black lives, or any lives for that matter.
