“ I would expect they’d land on Japan similar to the Allied invasion of German occupied Europe, i.e., D-Day ... Normandy. Many ships, landing craft, aircraft and parachuted troops would be used to invade Japan.”
—————
Japan is roughly 100 times further from China than the D-Day beaches were from England. The UK and US had hundreds of years of naval experience and dozens of prior amphibious landings in the prior 2-3 years between them. Germany had no air force or navy to speak of, and not one single ally to help them fight off our invasion that used thousands of ships and tens of thousands of aircraft.
There is no comparison whatsoever. The new Chinese Navy in 2221 will likely get to see the old Chinese Navy from the early 21st Century just by building glass bottoms on their ships.
You are right. I didn't realize there was so much distance separating the two nations.
Possibly a bigger question is how the U.S. (Biden Administration) would respond to a Chinese attack on Taiwan or Japan. Would Biden go to war over Taiwan or Japan? Considering the quid-pro-quo relationship his family, U.S. global oligarchs and many politicians have with China, I would not assume U.S. help if I were Taiwanese or Japanese.
First they would occupy North Korea then invade South Korea with a huge army—Crushing them. Then invade from Pusan to Japan. They would need Russian Help to do this—and keep US out of the fight by distracting us with a Civil War or rebellion or another “Pandemic”.
