“On Capitol grounds”. It is possible that person never even went into the building.

How many of the lefties who’ve been disrupting congressional hearings and Supreme Court confirmation hearings ever got a day in jail?

The number of time I read on here [Free Replic.com] “Law Enforcement will be on our side” would go from here to infinity. What happened? The Judge and prosecutor are definitely Law Enforcement. They are part of the Executive Branch that enforces the law. Again, what happened? Was the poor soul that got caught in their trap not on our side? 20 million Frenchmen can't be wrong, can they? Or could Law Enforcement not be on our side as the facts bear out?

Purity boojit and if and when Trump is rightfully re-seated, along with Rittenhouse ... they'll all be vacated, pardoned and given restitution

If that's his Plan A then Plan B had better be good.

They are. They are the equivalent to Hitler and Stalin’s “People’s Court” Judges. And they condemned many to death.

The Judge’s Opinion used as Fact to jail a Peaceful Protester. Judicial overreach based on Politics.

I believe that since he pleaded to the Charge, he can’t File an Appeal. Anyone know if he gets Credit for time served being locked in the DC Gulag for the past five Months?

Like 97% of all Federal Prosecutions, there was no need for a Trail. The Feds make more Deals than a Vegas Blackjack Dealer.

"Although you were only one member of a larger mob, you actively participated in a larger event that threatened the Capitol and democracy itself."

It sounds like this liar is saying that anyone who was at the rally threatened "democracy." More than 99% of the people there did so to express their 1st Amendment right of the people " . . . peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

He mentions the man as being part of a "larger mob" which he seems to regard as an integral subset of the "larger event" (the rally) which threatened "democracy." He is erasing the distinction between the violent few and the peaceful masses. No, judge, the rally was an EXPRESSION of democracy.

They were. Then they discovered that we did not have any fight in us and are going ahead with their plans to exterminate their enemies.

"Are they trying to provoke a real insurrection as an excuse to exterminate all their political enemies?"

Yes. That would be a dream come true for them, and they are working on it day and night, trying to see how many of our buttons they can push, how utterly irrational and dishonest and unfair they can be before they get what they want.

Conviction will be overturned in future appeals.

This is pure political persecution!

The “obstruction” aspect isn’t what got him charged with a felony. It was that 1) he’s from Florida, and 2) he had a big red Trump flag. He was a juicy target with useful optics.

The felony charge was for “obstructing an official proceeding.” How many leftist disruptors of official proceedings in DC ever faced eight years in jail? Note that he was NOT charged with attacking police officers or property damage, nor is there evidence of him entering an occupied legislative chamber, but only one that had already been vacated.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but four people were armed...
ALBERTS, Christopher Michael. Unlawful Possession of a Firearm on Capitol Grounds or Buildings; Unlawful Entry or Remaining on Restricted Grounds without Lawful Authoirty; Carrying a Pistol without a License Outside Home or Place of Business; Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device

COFFMAN, Lonnie Leroy . Possession of an unregistered firearm (destructive device) and carrying a pistol without a license.

MEREDITH Jr., Cleveland Grover. Interstate Communication of Threats; Possession of Unregistered Firearms; Possession of Unregistered Ammunition; Possession of Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Devices

REFFITT, Guy Wesley. Obstruction of an Official Proceeding and Aiding and Abetting; Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds; Obstruction of Justice - Hindering Communication Through Physical Force or Threat of Physical Force. Superseding indictment issued 6/16 to add firearms charge.

Of the 511 people charged, 49 have a charge carrying weapons: Alam, Ashlock, Barnett, Black, Blair, Brockhoff, Caldwell, Chrestman, Coffee, Colon, Cua, Fairlamb, Foy, Gieswein, Gossjankowski, Harkrider, Jackson, Jenkins, Khater, Klein, Konold (Cory), Konold (Felicia), Kramer, Kuehne, Lang, Languerand, McHugh, McKellop, Mellis, Miller, Mink, Munafo, Nichols, Padilla, Palmer, Ponder, Powell, Rodriguez, Sabol, Sanford, Schwartz, Shalvey, Sills, Stager, Tanios, Watson, Webster, Whitton, and Worrell).

I spot-checked some of the affidavits and statements of facts; they carried tasers, bear spray, baseball bats, batons, crowbars, riot shields, respirators, axe handles, wooden clubs, etc.

Reading through the documents, you easily get a sense of who was innocently there and just carried away by events versus those who were there with serious pre-planning, intent to harm and were probably agents provocateur.

More to the story:

Christopher Alberts, faces charges for possession of a firearm on Capitol grounds or buildings. Police said in a criminal charging document that during the evening of January 6, as authorities were clearing the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center, Alberts was arrested with a loaded handgun and a spare magazine, along with a gas mask, pocket knife, a packaged military meal and a first aid kit.

Lonnie Coffman, was found with a “large and unlawful” trove of weapons in his truck, which he had parked downtown. When Coffman returned to his vehicle the evening of January 6, authorities said he had also been carrying two additional loaded firearms, and a judge wrote in a court ruling that there was evidence he was armed while participating in riots near the Capitol. Coffman has not been charged with carrying firearms during the riot....

Cleveland Meredith, did not attend the rally at the Capitol January 6, but was arrested in D.C. the day after the attack with an assault-style rifle equipped with a telescopic sight, a Glock firearm with several high capacity magazines and over 2,500 rounds of ammunition — including at least 320 “armor-piercing” rounds.

The defendant, Guy Reffitt, of Wylie, Texas, was charged with two new crimes in a superseding indictment Thursday, which alleged that he transported a rifle and a semi-automatic handgun to D.C. and that he carried the semi-automatic handgun while on U.S. Capitol grounds January 6.

I probably would have done the same in that situation. Eight months plea bargain vs 20 years. Now if it went to trial, any reasonable jury would have acquitted but I would not gamble what would effectively be the rest of my life in prison on a stacked anti-Trump DC jury, that's for sure. He's already served six months so he'll be out in eight weeks. I can't blame him for that decision.

It's a travesty though. Those people were allowed to walk right into the Capitol and I have yet to see any violence or vandalism from those who were allowed in there to wave some flags and take some selfies. They looked like tourists!

Perhaps we can say no protestors PULLED a gun out.

Alberts was found to have a gun in his possession 90 minutes AFTER the curfew. Coffman had them in his truck, and it was also in the evening (after the riot) that he was found in possession of guns. Meredith wasn’t even in Washington DC on 6 January.

“The Judge and prosecutor are definitely Law Enforcement. They are part of the Executive Branch that enforces the law.”

Wouldn’t they be part of the judicial branch of government?
