>> THE DEATH OF STALIN is a hoot ...
It was very good.
The Dig was pretty good too — it’s a mellow story based on real events.
Gonna check the others sphinx mentioned. If you like sub movies, the Wolf’s Call is pretty good. French film. Go with natural language and subtitles.
You already know this, but I’ll underline it for the sake of those who are so busy venting about Hollywood that they wouldn’t know a good movie if it kicked them in the shins.
It costs you nothing to watch a two minute trailer or to read a couple of reviews. Check a few things out. You will be surprised. And if a movie doesn’t hold your interest, turn it off. Assuming you’re streaming it, that doesn’t cost you anything either, and it will tell the industry, which tracks viewing times, that the movie was a miss.
That’s the kind of feedback that matters to them. They don’t read FR, but they do know if people aren’t sticking with their movies.
Months? We moved to where we are now in 2011 and it was several years before that the last time we watched network tv. 😴😴😴😴😴😴
Is it a Godfather? Patton? Hell Forrest Gump? They are good, but still waitng for the next great classic.
I appreciate your recommendations. Gibson was excellent in another picture I saw a while back — Dragged Across Concrete — which is not everyone’s cup of tea. He and Vince Vaughn did a great job as burned-out cops.
Congrats on being ten years ahead of us!
There are some decent independent movies being made. Kevin Sorbo and his wife have a company doing that. Sorbo was told outright by his agent that he had to stop representing him because he’s (1) conservative, and (2) Christian.
Current and ongoing The Chosen is worth watching.
Hollywoke is Hollybroke.
Bookmarking your post for movie viewing Thanks for the list
Ok
Risen
I understand a movie, Nomadland, I think, is good, but it’s sad. I’m not into sad movies anymore, with real life so much so.
Up
The ones about training your Dragon
Anything by/with Caviezal, such as Infidel. I’m a fan and respect his work.
Another good series is "The Expanse." Started on SciFi channel, then they dropped it and Netflix picked it up. Lots of intertwined plot lines, really good production, decent writing, and only a smattering of woke/leftist/homosexual content. More like they were including it to check a box, not shove anything in your face. ... But complicated. At one point I had to back up 6 or 8 episodes and re-watch to figure out what is going on.
“Current and ongoing ‘The Chosen’ is worth watching.”
I was going to say that! Thanks. It is fantastic...and NO Hollywood.
Please add “The Lives of Others” to your list.
.
I haven’t lived in a place that gets regular TV since 1980.
All Satellite.
From C-band, to Dish, and now we finally got fiber to
curb( there are no curbs here) due to that first stimulus
package which someone through in money for Broadband in rural areas.
We have a very extensive DVD library of mostly classics.
I think “Lone survivor” is my newest movie and that dates from 2013. I’ll probably get the next “Top gun” if it ever comes out, but most new movies are BS and I don’t want to support Democrats in any way shape or form.
As Captain Kirk said “Let them die!”.
Acting means adopting a character. So a straight can play gay, a gay can play straight, and blacks can play Anne Boleyn and Queen Isabelle.
the woke only want gays to play gay, trans to play trans, whores to play whores, etc. except blacks can play any white or asian character they want because - equity.
when acting is no longer acting all we’re left with is various versions of Housewives of Atlanta
Wait for the “Great Reset” Coming. A new religious re-awakening—films will become more about this than Racist diatribe’s. This new “Revival” will hit all levels of society—politics too. New “Moral Crusade” will be launched. Things will swing back to a near 1950s culture. Its all about the Buckos—If Chinese/Japanese start to sell off the studios and the internet crumbles (as it will) things will re-set. Thats my take. Noting will change til we lose WW III (and Alaska and Hawaii afterwards).
“Chernobyl” was an HBO series about 2 years ago. Very good. I watched the DVDs from my local library.
Next year even fewer people will watch...The only thing worse than their movies are their 'award' shows... And you're right - they'll blame everyone except themselves.
Here in North Central Texas I’ve noticed at most 25 to 30 cars parked outside the movie-plexes at any one time as I drive pass. Not exactly what I would call the kind of crowds to pay the bills with.
