While I wholeheartedly endorse the sentiment, the fact is that those flags have become a lightning rod.

In our area, one is flying from a home's roof right across from a school, but the town has been reticent to do anything about it (it's down now, due to peer pressure).

In my township, a supervisor complained about having to take a detour when picking up his grandkids so they won't seen another of those flags flying next to the road. Again, the township won't explicity do anything about it.

Both incidents made the local paper, and our area went almost 75% Trump, and a lot of the folks complaining are BIG Trump supporters.

I think (Don't stoop to their level) applies in some cases.
