The number of new cases of COVID-19 in the U.S. has more than doubled in the last two weeks, as the delta variant rapidly became the dominant strain.
The Middle East and North Africa is witnessing a surge in Covid-19 cases during the growth of the Delta variant. The Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday, begins in the week of July 20 and is traditionally celebrated with large or medium-sized social gatherings, which might increase the spread.
Tunisia and Iran are seeing some of the bigger spikes.

Cases up in my area and younger. Most do well but hospitalizations climbing as well. I suspect will get a increase in vaccinations until this starts slowing. It will. All pandemics end. Thanks to Trump this one abated earlier than most. I still have had no hospitalized patients who were vaccinated.

Delta variant appears to have an R0 closer to 8, which is extremely high. The original Wuhan virus has an R0 of 1.3 and the April 2020 variant that took over global infections for several months has an R0 of 2.5.
I expect the rise in cases and deaths to freak some people out and jumpstart vaccinations again. The coming weeks will determine to what extent that’s the case.
The good news is that the vaccinated still enjoy an enormous level of protection. 99.2% of COVID-19 deaths in June were among the unvaccinated. At this point, the vaccines are readily available. Anyone who remains unvaccinated remains so by their own choices. Choices have consequences. If some of them become hospitalized and/or die from COVID-19, that’s a consequence. I don’t wish that upon anyone, but like the guy who dies in a motorcycle accident because he wasn’t wearing a helmet, they have no one to blame but themselves.
18,000 people died from COVID-19 in June in the US. Of them, 150 were fully vaccinated. The other 99.2% were not.
So yes, getting vaccinated is not 100% protection. It’s just really, really close.

It’s an amazingly effective vaccine. Certainly it’s a personal choice but it is effective.

I asked how many folks who were fully vaccinated or hell, partially vaccinated died from the damn injection.

I have not had personally but have heard of one. I know of one fully vaccinated who contracted but has had no significant issues. Other than it cut short their beach trip.

I think it would be possible to get a reasonable estimate. So far, we are fairly certain it’s more than all previous vaccines since the 1900 combined.

Each death in the United States is subject to a medical examiner's investigation to establish cause of death. A requisite US Standard Certificate of Death is filled out based on the findings of each medical investigation. To the best of my knowledge, only one medical examination has mentioned a COVID-19 vaccine as a possible contributing factor in a death. That's out of 185 million Americans who've gotten a COVID-19 vaccine.
It is possible there have been some others, but it certainly is not the "900,000" claimed by some of the anti-vaxxers.
Same story here — no vaccinated people in the ICU or on the vent. Some occasional mild breakthrough reports, but not hospitalized.
This third wave of delta + previous natural immunity + vaccinated immunity should about end this. Agree with you that thanks to Trump that this will abate far earlier.
I have not had any reinfections — a quick survey of the literature finds that the number of reinfections are at a case report level. Virtually zero.
What about those that recovered from Covid?
