Hundreds of syringes have washed up on Jersey Shore beaches since last week’s tropical rainstorm — possibly caused by sewer runoff from New York City, according to reports.
The needles were causing safety concerns from Sandy Hook to Long Branch as lifeguards and other workers have worked furiously over the past several days collecting the needles from the sand, NBC New York reported.

New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection said the washed-up needles likely came from nearby sewage systems that were bombarded with rain last Thursday from Tropical Storm Elsa, NJ.com reported.

Living in NJ, I’d think the needles were our own...
Walk the inner streets and you’ll find thousand’s of needles.
When my brother worked as a high voltage splicer for Con Edison he said the first thing they had to do before they started a job was sweep up all of the crack vials. Syringes would reflect the current drug of choice.
