There is Bach

Actually there is rock made by young people but it gets little traction

Music promotion is controlled by people who like urban thug life and large asses

Or who exploit that like.

Or in country today it’s canned crap and now woke country as they stumble over themselves like the Republican Party does to prove they aren’t racist

They will shit upon their southern and western support base to do just that ....watch

Some new bands I like

Dirty Honey....damn good

Joyous Wolf.....decent

A band from natchez Mississippi ....name escapes me....two names

A punk band from Australia with some catchy tunes and a live wire little very young front girl...Amyl and the Sniffers

But none of these bands can reach the huge level the old bands did

The parameters ....changed

Plus a lot less kids as a demographic proportion versus my era

And there is Bach....timeless .....from which so much flowed

Another factoid nobody liked to really admit but how many other guitar greats have come and gone since Hendrix and Page and Clapton and SRV ....many unknown ....plenty....those guys were closer to the electric guitar genesis and were more original sounding

Now you’re always compared...to the past

No question Beatles to Grunge will always be listened to longer than what’s come since in popular music

Plenty kids discover the original stuff all on their own and go damn

My kids did

You know how most common....video soundtracks or movie soundtracks

Nashville is a boom town of epic proportions

The marginal populations which are mostly immigrant or black have been pushed out to Antioch and Madison

Or Bordeaux which has always been black

Everything else is gentrifying at crazed pace

Hickory hollow had two strikes...it's a mall...a dying institution usually.....and it's now overrun with Latino and others looking to come up

It is not indicative Nashville is in decline by any means

I've never seen anything like what's happening here....tower cranes everywhere

The downtown building clusters have quintupled in ten years

But Nashville which has always been fairly conservative Dixiecrat democrat is now very liberal....leftist ...like Austin Texas

It's also very young population wise....and young people are more leftist no question of that

The 9-11 counties making up the metro area surrounding Nashville and Davidson county are the opposite...mostly conservative ...

And California is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain...streaming in....our largest newcomer origin now

Back in the late 70s, early 80s period, those who controlled country music were still very much into the strings and the horns and backup choruses (Nashville Sound). That’s why the back to basics artists like Ricky Skaggs, Dwight Yoakum, Keith Whitley (RIP), Randy Travis, and such others could not get heard for that long time.

What’s really neat to do is listen to the stuff that Ricky Skaggs and Keith Whitley did together back in the very early 1970s (when both were still teenagers in Kentucky under Ralph Stanley’s tutelage) and it is that very fresh and original sounding even all of these years later.
