Don't answer the door. Buy a small, inexpensive WiFi surveillance camera with cloud recording, and mount it facing your front door, so you can see who's ringing the bell . And have a No Trespassing/Soliciting/Politics/et cetera sign visible to anyone who comes to he door. That sign essentially means, "The owner of this house doesn't want you here. Go away". If the paid harasser persists, call the police, having still not answered the door. Just don't call 911, unless warranted.
