You could do that as well. Both my cameras have mini SD cards in them. But I also have 7-day continuous cloud recording. At least for now.
Cloud recording is good but you should also have a surveillance system with a hard drive or a physical drive in your home. Sadly, I simply don’t trust much anymore except Jesus....
