Masking is a simple and effective intervention that does not interfere with offering full in-person instruction. At the outset of the new year, students should be able to walk into school without worrying about whether they will feel different or singled out for being vaccinated or unvaccinated — treating all kids the same will support a calm and supportive school environment.

No one wears mask All will be treated the same

I see the US as 50 different countries that are members of a federation - kinda like the EU.

California is the crazy country in the attic. I declined a family reunion invite to Napa because I refuse to set foot in that country.

Justice Louis Brandeis had created his famous “laboratories of democracy” metaphor to encourage the states to learn from each other's strengths and weaknesses.
"a single courageous State may, if its citizens choose, serve as a laboratory; and try novel social and economic experiments without risk to the rest of the country."--Justice Louis Brandeis

So why isn't California learning from other states concerning masks, especially Texas, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, etc.?

In fact, noting that California school faculty and staff were probably intoctrinated to demonize CV19, it remains that there are probably many more California parents who would vote no to masks than bully Democratic school faculty and staff who would vote yes.

Also, California parents should try to find out what's in their children's masks after a day in school like Florida parents did. Possibly pneumonia and tuberculosis bacteria for starters.

Finally, one would think that California school mask policy would hurt Newsom's chance of remaining in office.

Insights welcome.

I think (am hoping) it will roast him!!! As a Bay Area resident families have traveled all over together this Summer (no masks) ...tons of fun and felt normal again especially for the kids. In one month dropping them off with masks will not be popular. Screw the CTA...

#14. Why? Young children are the least likely to suffer or even catch the COVID-19 virus. Old guys like me are the prime targets yet I only wear a mask where required or asked to (out of respect for the store’s employees).

Let kids be kids. Make the teachers wear masks, all day long and see how they like it.

Kids wearing masks outside, esp. during exercising or athletics, will kill more of them than the virus ever will.

Asthma ran in my family. Nearly crippled me when I was young and nearly killed my father too. He had to move to Florida for 1-1/2 years in order to recover. Mumps almost killed him in the Army during WW2.

I won’t even list the medical conditions I’ve suffered from since 2002 but I’ve also head heart attacks, been dead - cardiac arrest, in comas, and am recovering from pancreatic cancer plus lots of other secondary potentially deadly medical conditions.

I just use common sense but I’ve never worn a mask around my house unless there was a visitor, not walking down the street like some of my idiot neighbors do, or while driving.

Common sense is badly needed today. I listen to my doctors but the final decisions are mine.

My health conditions aren’t as bad as yours , but I do have sever COPD and in the age group who is supposed to die if I catch the “DREADED COVID”.

We had a Mining Council meeting just today and I was asked about face masks, I told the rest of the Council members that if they ever saw me wearing a mask they would know that I was getting ready to ROB A BANK!
