Some of these are technically ‘reimportations.’ Many of these drugs are manufactured here (or in Puerto Rico) and then exported to countries like Canada. The catch is Canada - for a variety of reasons - pays SIGNFICANTLY less for the drugs than US consumers do. So, it’s quite frequently cheaper to reimport the drugs from Canada (and other countries) than it is to buy them from your local US pharmacy.
There’s a reason drug companies sued Trump when he tried the same thing and this is the reason. It undercuts the premium prices they’re charging US consumer who are, in a very real way, underwriting the socialized medicine that Canada provides to its citizens.
And yet I can’t buy the drugs at Canadian prices either on-line or going to Canada to buy them and drive them back here myself. Something very wrong with the process. Too bad President Trump could not get that cleaned up during his first 4 years. Lesson learned for the next time we get a President who is more concerned with American citizens than American subsidiary of global corporations.
