PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - This may not be an election year, but some voters are switching political parties. In Arizona, Republicans have the largest number of registered voters, but more voters are switching or registering as Independents.

Politics in Arizona is a constant national focus with the state Senate election audit, politicians making headlines and President Joe Biden winning the traditionally red state in 2020. New poll shows election audit unpopular with Arizona voters

Examining voter registration from the Secretary of State's Office shows some interesting trends. In the years between the 2016 and 2020 general elections, Democrats saw the biggest growth in registered voters, followed closely by Republicans. Independents also saw growth due in part to the Green Party losing recognition in Arizona.

Driving the move IMHO is the realization that the GOPe in AZ is working against them.

They see the effort to stop the Arizona Audit and President Trump has been drilling the crap out of the GOPe for it.

I switched from R to I because I’m so disgusted with the spineless AZ republican party. I give to individual candidates but NFW am I giving to the party

Is Arizona a closed primary state? Or can Indies vote in the primary of their choice. This has a LOT to do with the fact that Indies are a small percent of the electorate in Pennsylvania (closed primary) but the larges block in New Hampshire (open primary).

This silly scribe really needs to explain that before speculating why Independents are growing faster than either major party in terms of voter registrants.

Considering these people voted for John McCain over and over and over again. This doesn’t surprise me. It might historically be a red state, but it’s a GOPe mentality there.

Call be skeptical.

It may be a deceptive way to later justify the "mail in" votes going Dim in the general election.

I’m thinking this is part of the trend of Conservatives not wanting to be associated with the disappointing Republican Party, but rather throwing their support behind candidates more in line with their values. Registering as “Independents” is a signal to the GOPe that “Hey, you can’t take me or my vote for granted anymore.”

"A pox on both their houses"

People would switch to Republican if they saw Republicans with courage and conviction.

Still waiting for Republicans standing shoulder to shoulder in the Capital rotunda demanding an investigation into election fraud or at least election security and election integrity.

I guess we'll have to wait until the day after the next election for Republicans to be outraged by the results and defer to the media to call elections.

And remember when Virginia flipped? Why were Republicans surprised? Why didn't they see the trend and take action?

In Arizona, Republicans have the largest number of registered voters,

Then how did Trump lose?

10. Direct primary election law

Kids get acclimated. Some don't. I'm acclimated, but my Canadian wife will never be.

My 12-year old son plays St. Agnes baseball (after playing RAMMS baseball in the spring), and my 17 year old daughter enjoys long (3 mile) walks.

When I was growing up, we didn’t go outside much in the summertime. We would only swim early morning or after the sun went down. We’d hang out in the house or at the malls.
