U.S. Soccer responded to allegations the women’s national team slighted a World War II veteran and the American flag during a match with Mexico on Monday.
A video clip showed some members of the women’s team facing away from the veteran, Pete DuPre, who was playing the harmonica for the U.S. national anthem.

It prompted some to claim that the members were attempting to protest against the flag and were being disrespectful toward DuPre. But U.S. Soccer denied those claims in a tweet late on Monday night.
“To be clear, no one turned their back on WWII Veteran Pete DuPré during tonight’s anthem. Some USWNT players were simply looking at the flag on a pole in one end of the stadium,” the organization tweeted. “The players all love Pete, thanked him individually after the game, and signed a ball for him.”
As bad as the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team is for a lot of reasons, this does not appear to be accurate.

The organization also posted a video of team members signing his ball.

The entire video of the national anthem performance suggested that the players were not being disrespectful and were facing the American flag near the scoreboard. When DuPre was finished, they faced him and clapped.
Some members of the U.S. Soccer team, however—including star player Megan Rapinoe—have taken a knee to protest during the playing of the national anthem in previous contests. Rapinoe infamously took a knee in 2016 after former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick began doing so before games.
The United States defeated Mexico on Monday, 4–0.

That said, it's so sad the team is comprised of so many ingrates and leftist disrespecters of our American History, Culture, Traditions, and wonderful way of life (and I'm not bothered a whit about player sex orientation, choice etc).
I do love to watch the olympics and root for the USA; however, if it devolves into political theater (it likely will) and if the U.S. Olympic committee does little, then I'm forgoing all of the great sports viewing and withdrawing support for my teams and calling for replacement of the U.S. committee and players for the ensuing games.

I do not believe that USWNT members disrespected Mr. Pete Dupre or US flag...
I saw the video which showed players signing a soccer ball for Mr. Dupre...I did not get the impression that the players were disrespectful towards him...
I am not a big fan of US Soccer Federation...Especially after it decided that players are no longer required to stand for the national anthem...
I also dislike some, not all, players on USWNT...For example, I have a negative opinion of Ms. Megan Rapinoe...
However, I do not want to accuse people of doing something they did not really do...
Even if I do not like those people...
they'll go on to lives of hard work and frustation and taxes and screaming children and irritable old people and traffic and car breakdowns and sickness and death....
you know....like everybody else....
so instead of enjoying their youthful opportunities with glee, they appear to be a glum group of bitter haters....rare smiles...
sometimes luck and opportunity falls on the least deserving...
