This might not be important, but I absolutely refuse to shop at Hobby Lobby, but not one of their items they sell is made in the US.

I quit reading Michael “Woke” Brown a while back. I don’t feel I’m missing anything at all.

FTA: “3) That being said, I do understand how others would read the ad as advocating for a theocracy (which I wholeheartedly oppose) and as for claiming that only Christians should run for office (which is ridiculous).”

If this is the author’s ultimate conclusion about the HL advertisement, I’m left astounded by his inability to read for meaning or to think critically. I’d further conclude that the flak being drawn by HL is from the usual leftist sources and that pretty much settles where I’m going to come down on the subject at hand.

As a note - I don’t spend money at HL either but my wife does very infrequently. I do go to their Mardel store for some teaching supplies occasionally.

One of the few places that are closed on Sunday...like the old days. It was a big deal when I was a kid.

Buy lotsa things there for projects.

Not made in USA?? Gee, is that different from any other retail store?

Secularists complaining about dominionism are tweeting birds on the limbs of a tree being consumed by lava.

I’m guessing it’s this that sent people into hysterics:”John Jay... “Providence has given to our people the choice of their ruler, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.”
But I haven’t seen the whole Hobby Lobby ad.

I’m guessing it’s also verboten for any U.S. President to say, “God bless the United States of America”, anymore?

If Hobby Lobby carries something I need then I buy it there before even shopping elsewhere.

You know, I don’t get this “I’ll never buy anything made in China”. I guess if there was a choice to by Chinese or buy American it makes sense but many times the item we want is not made here.

Dominion theology holds that Christians should govern and control all social and cultural institutions. In other words, Christians should be as dominant in America as Muslims are in Saudi Arabia and Communists are in North Korea. It derives from covenant or replacement theology, which believes that the Christian church has replaced ethnic Israel as the chosen people forever, and not just in the church age. Unless specifically repealed in the New Testament, the civil laws of Israel apply to Christian nations. The dominionist position is a small minority among covenant theology supporters. Most conservative Reformed theologians have rejected the dominionist position.

You know what I hate?

When people who mock and despise and eschew Christianity lecture us on how to be good Christians.

Hypocrites. As in the quote about the 10 Commandments. If the religion is so bad, what’s with the chutzpah of you to require us to hold to it?

Kaslin...You always make a negative out of something positive. Nasty habit.

What is dominionism?

Rather than define, I think it better to give you a couple of soft-core exponents of the view that the country would be vouchsafed in perpetuity if Christians occupied the corridors of power in America.

You may recall the main thrust of the message of men like Jerry Falwell and Dr. D. James Kennedy? If so, you were hearing that basic, dominionist message, in low-key form.

?????

Re-state please?

You’re saying that you won’t shop at HL, and now you definitely won’t shop at HL?

If so, why?

I shop Hobby Lobby. But then again I make an effort to shop Christian, Conservative businesses and avoid those that go against my morals.

What is with this thread?

Even the OP makes a negative statement about this?

Why is what the author writes here bad?

Please don’t upset Kaslin until we hear where we can get US-made substitutes for all those China-made goods found in Hobby Lobby.

I hope Kaslin will enlighten us.

nuconvert :" I’m guessing it’s also verboten for any U.S. President to say, “God bless the United States of America”, anymore? "

True enough !
Any organization that forgets the "Founding Fathers" during Independence Day, denies history.
Fortunately, Hobby Lobby is not one of those deniers.
