One of Sweden's biggest supermarket chains said Saturday it had to temporarily close around 800 stores nationwide after a cyberattack blocked access to its checkouts.
"One of our subcontractors was hit by a digital attack, and that's why our checkouts aren't working any more," Coop Sweden, which accounts for around 20 percent of the sector, said in a statement.
"We regret the situation and will do all we can to reopen swiftly," the cooperative added.

It would be “all hands on deck” at any American firm suffering this, damn the holiday. July 4 holiday would be cancelled for the IT hands and they would work nonstop to get things running again.
My first job was in field service engineering in power plants. Utilities and big industrials scheduled maintenance over the Christmas and July 4 holidays and everybody worked through those holiday periods. Lots of big crash construction projects and upgrades were doing those two holiday periods.
When a criminal uses a gun in a crime the media also always identifies the type of gun, if not the specific make and model. How about when ransomware crimes occur, reporters identify the operating system?
What will they lose from spoilage of perishables that cannot be frozen?
Many are, because they keep the data in real time. It also allows for software updates/repairs without touching the registers.
Did the hackers raise or lower the food prices?
