Students and other young people walking around the Georgetown area of Washington, D.C., struggled to say whether they were "proud" to be American ahead of 4th of July weekend.
Ophelie Jacobson, a reporter with Campus Reform — a conservative news site and higher-education watchdog — walked around Georgetown asking young people in the area whether they were proud to be American and whether the United States is the greatest country in the world.
"I feel sorry for those young students," Lily Tang Williams, an American citizen who immigrated from China, told "Fox & Friends" on Saturday in response to the video. "They remind me of my past, living in communist China for 23 years, and I was indoctrinated to believe everything the government told me and that Chairman Mao [Zedong] told me."
Williams added that "there are millions of people who would like to switch places with them."
In the Campus Reform video, one woman Jacobson interviewed says she feels "embarrassed to be an American every day" when asked whether she was proud to be an American.

Why are people so readily evangelized to the gospel of anti-Americanism while so hardened to the gospel of Christ?
Send them all to Cuba for a year.
Propaganda works.
Anti-Americanism doesn’t expect you change your life to glorify God.
You can do all the hook-ups you want, get diseases, and get free treatments for your diseases.
Do any of these ‘journalists’ ask these creepy kids what country they are planning to move to?
Do they ask who they think their leadership will be under a new constitution they would replace this one with?
Is the question ever asked, who will draw up a new constitution? Under what philosophy?
Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have been born at a different time, in a different place, to a different family. And then I get back to work paying my mortgage down, getting my kids to school asking my spouse about his work day, keeping creepy people, media, ideas and other wildlife out of my house.
I ask God what He wants me to do today and going forward for the great country He place me in as my birthright. We all have much to do to preserve this great constitution
Fomenting stupidity and resentment as in this article is not that
On the one hand they believe America is the most evil, racist, oppressive country in the world. On the other hand they want illegal aliens to settle in America, even though it is the worst place on earth.
Yep, I don’t blame the kids, I blame adults like me for allowing this to happen to this country.
I struggle too. I love my country and family and much of our history and I know that no country’s history is flawless
But right now we just seem to be a homosexual promotion cabal. Flying those flags at our embassies and putting trannies in uniform. All the critical race crap. And the election fraud. Not proud of these things and they are the points of our current existence it seems.
Well what else do you expect? It’s like interviewing members of the Heavens gate cult asking them when the comet is coming, these kids are completely brainwashed, indoctrinated and out of their minds.
Speaking of Heavens gate, can you believe their website is still up? Who the hell is paying for it?
I’m not proud of bidet’s Amerikka
I hear you. I’m definitely not ashamed to be an American, but I can’t say I’m proud of it. Pride isn’t necessarily the opposite of shame. Frankly, I’m not sure what “America” means anymore. I’ll put my flag out today, but it will be the 13-star flag.
Thanks to the evil DNC, media and government education. Half the country feels like the America hating Obama scum as people die to get into the country.
“Why are people so readily evangelized to the gospel of anti-Americanism while so hardened to the gospel of Christ?”
You can thank taking God out of schools and replacing Him with political correctness and pro homosexual beliefs for that.
IOW the enemy is working overtime.
As dfwgator noted, propaganda works. We are seeing proof of that here.
So I’m not a bit surprised at these sad responses. But we should remember that these kind of reports can easily be manipulated.
What was the percentage of responders said they were not proud to be an American? Maybe it was low. But if we are only shown those folks, we’ll get the wrong idea.
“Heaven’s Gate” is not banned by Facebook or Twitter.
I think a lack of gratitude has a lot to do with it. If you know your sin condemns you to hell , you’re looking for any way out and belief in Christ and eternal life is a glorious answer, for which you are ever thankful. On the other hand , what are these privileged , presumably white, kids getting for placing their faith in anti-Americanism? I guess peer approbation. It seems like thin gruel.
I know that no country’s history is flawless
These people talk about the legacy of slavery and other issues. But they give us no credit for the fact that we ended slavery. We get no credit for attempts to fix problems, such as by passing the Civil Rights laws of the 1960s. These activists give us NO credit for having recognized problems and having fixed them.
Heck, we have homosexual marriage nationwide now, and have for a number of years now. But those who bitch about “homophobia” and related issues fail to recognize that there has never been a better time in history, than right now, to be openly homosexual.
Enviro activists who bitch about global warming, give us no credit for the fact that the environment is far cleaner now than decades ago. We get no credit for all the work that was done to clean the environment, or actions taken such as the sharp reductions in pollution from cars and trucks.
And these activists on the environment fail to give us credit for reductions in emissions we have made in recent years, including the years in which the hated Trump was president.
Hebrews 11:13-16:
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
