According to the California Retailer's Association three cities in our state are among the top 10 in the country when it comes to organized retail crime--Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sacramento.
Already we are seeing the negative impact it is having in San Francisco with stores permanently shutting down or closing early. It has become one of the most pressing issues in our city today.
Target has now acknowledged that San Francisco is the only city in America where they have decided to close some stores early because of the escalating retail crime.
For more than a month, we've been experiencing a significant and alarming rise in theft and security incidents at our San Francisco Stores, similar to reports from other retailers in the area.
Target isn't the only store in San Francisco to make changes because of the continuous shoplifting. After 10 p.m. the 7-Eleven on Drumm St. in the Financial District only does business through a metal door. But first you have to ring the bell to let them know you're outside.
"This window was installed like two to three months ago because it was not safe. Sometimes they would break that glass of the door," explained Manager Bobby Singh.

Target has free TVs during riots.
I spent 3 years as a retail store manager in minority dominated neighborhoods. I feel sorry for the store employees. They get paid crap and have to fear for their lives
They once interviewed the CEO and asked him how he felt about walking away with millions while so many lives were ruined due to his mismanagement. He was nonplussed and declared that if the company had stayed successful he would have walked away with hundreds of millions so he was hurting also.
It's the same with these companies. The people making the crazy decisions feel no pain and even if they run the companies into the ground they will be unaffected, like Mark Zuckerberg if he suddenly lost 10 billion dollars. They don't notice and they don't care. They're woke and that's all that matters in the circle they hang out in.
Target where I live has only half of their $600 shopping carts. Thiefs load them up and roll out of the store and off to their homeless camps. They’re left out to rust and get used for BBQ grills.
The amount of graffiti in SF is beyond belief and is at least 10X worse than a few years ago.
Historically, retail was done by customer coming to the shop, asking clerk to bring forward the item and paying for it before getting hold of it. It is done that way in many places in the world even now and specialty shops like Auto zone are doing it in the USA still.
This model is expensive, slow and customer experience suffers. But, it is very good in preventing theft!
I see San Francisco shopping is returning to this model.
If this continue, Target and all other retailers will do this all day along.
The prices will go up, but the theft will stop!

You’re either completely nuts or so lazy you didn’t bother reading beyond the headline.
You’re blaming the stores for closing down because they’re being ripped off several times a day everyday with absolutely no consequences for the thieves???
Be a hero and open a store in a BIPOC “community” in San Fransicko. Actually anywhere in the city you will get the same treatment.

UH?? I was at Autozone a few days ago and there is a ton of merchandise out in the open for the taking.
I used to work for one of the best companies in the world, one that if you got a job there you were set for life. Then top management made bad decision after bad decision until the stock lost 95% or more of its value, people got laid off by the hundreds of thousands and it was finally sold for scrap, leaving a trail of ruined lives, failed marriages and suicides in its wake. During that death spiral the executives still paid themselves handsomely and even after it was pretty much declared insolvent they were brought on as highly paid “consultants” to help with the transition to bankruptcy and sale.

Substitute the U.S. for this company and our ruling elites for the executives and it’s much the same.
You're either completely clueless or you don't realize who backs the politicians that make the rules that allow shoplifters to steal with no consequences for thieves.
“That’s where San Francisco Supervisor Ahsha Safai has stepped in. He’s asked both the police department and the District Attorney’s office to come up with a coordinated plan to reduce the organized retail crime and find out why San Francisco is apparently targeted more than anywhere else.”
That’s too funny. The city is being systematically looted because of the culture we created but we’re gonna make a plan!
Yes, but all the parts are brought to the customer from back.
AutoZone is a actually mixed model. If they bring all the stuff from behind, that would make it exact example of future San Francisco commerce.
Remember Service Merchandise? They had almost everything in the back, except for display model items.
Funny how no one is saying “cops are evil” anymore.
They aren’t the ones stealing everything not bolted down, thats for dam sure.
Sounds like either Sears, JcPenney or Kmart
Yes, good for San Francisco shopping!
This time proven model is practiced everywhere in the world where shoplifting is a major issue. Medieval merchants operated that way only.
Basically another way the progressives are moving us back to the past.
Progressives are the most backward movement in recent times. All their efforts lead to poverty, filth, oppression and starvation.
