All U.S. forces have been removed from Bagram Airfield, the largest military base in Afghanistan, a senior U.S. official told Fox News Thursday.
Bagram Air Base, located just north of Kabul, was the heart of the U.S. operation in Afghanistan for nearly 20 years following the attack on Sept. 11, 2001, by Al Qaeda, which was based in the country...
European troops had largely pulled out months ahead of the U.S. departure from what was a stronghold in the war on terrorism.
Italy and Germany declared their missions in Afghanistan complete Wednesday.
The Bagram Air Base will be taken over by Afghan forces to continue the fight against the Taliban.
The U.S. military is expected to remain involved in Afghanistan until its final departure by September 11 and will help Afghan forces with operations through airstrikes, officials said Thursday.
A contingent of 650 U.S. troops will remain in Afghanistan indefinitely, based largely at the U.S. embassy for diplomatic security.

They have already seized control of a key border crossing to Tajikistan.
Some analysts are estimating the fall of the Government in Kabul within just six months, after the American troops are out.
By the end of the year the country will be in complete control of the Taliban.
Why do we even have an embassy there?
Bringing centralized democracy to a tribalized backward society like Afghanistan is like bathing a cat
We surrender. Just like Vietnam, except we had already pulled out before it all went to hell.
“By the end of the year the country will be in complete control of the Taliban.”
and . . .
They’ll have all of the weaponry we left behind.
and a pretty nice airfield to boot
Good luck with all that.
Very sad and very unfortunately inevitable, given the restraints we put on the U.S. military, insuring no real victory was ever given the means for it.
While sad it was inevitable because the American body politic was never going to approve any administration’s demand for all means necessary to ever have a real victory there. Also sad because four Presidents were never able to be honest with the American people about all of that, while American troop’s deaths and injuries were allowed to mount anyway.
The troops were honorable. Their political leaders were not.
All U.S. wars should be for final total victory, or not at all.
Butt, butt, butt....Soviets for 10 ish years, “allies” 20 ish years, buhzillion$ spent, lots of dead folks, lots of now disabled folks and........... A-stan. Still undefeated. My sympathy to the brave folks who were disabled and prayers for those that gave all. Remember when we went to win things like this. 💸💸💸😞
“ The Taliban is on the march, seizing territory in Afghanistan, and re-imposing their old dictatorship. ”
As an American in 2021, I can completely relate.
Bring our troops home...

The natural government of Afghanistan is by local warlords. We originally won the war there by supporting the warlords of our choice with small teams of special forces backed up by air support, against the Taliban who were themselves a somewhat alien force by comparison.
When later we tried to build a functioning central government, we failed simply because that style of government never had the legitimacy of local warlord rule. It wasn’t natural to the country. Soldiers of the Afghan army weren’t loyal to the central government in the way a warlord’s militia are to him, it seems. By comparison, the Talibs are more legitimate than an alien central government and command greater loyalty among their own fighters.
Taliban Air will be running direct flights to the US packed with peaceful muslim travelers waving their own knives.

Eugenics by other means
Hmmm, didn’t the Democrats and RINOs (Liz Cheney in particular) scream and claim Trump was causing a global security crisis when he wanted to remove US troops from the Middle East? Guess it was all political theater, not a concern for the US military or the security of the Middle East after all.
And the Democrats, media and RINOs screamed in protest.
“A contingent of 650 U.S. troops will remain in Afghanistan indefinitely, based largely at the U.S. embassy for diplomatic security.”
Hmmmm… where have we heard this before… will there be helicopters on standby to evacuate the embassy when the Taliban overrun Kabul? Or will the embassy personnel be served up as hostages like they were in Iran?
We lost another “war” which was the longest in American history. The stars and stripes, fag flags and BLM flags go down as the Taliban flags go up. The soldiers died in vain and the military is exhausted and depleted (as it goes woke). The cost was incalcuable not only in soldiers killed but $TRILLIONS flushed down the drain. It is a disgrace. I saw a video where billions of dollars of equipment is ready to be picked by the Taliban. What exactly did America get after 20 years of fighting which includes the Iraq invasion? Incidentally NYC is worse off,we have Muslim scum in Congress, the Taliban will be back to pre-WOT levels and Europe is being colonized by caliphate parasites. Bin Laden smiles.
I feel sorry for most of the people stuck in that awful s**thole, but it's their problem, not hours.
