Thomas Jefferson's "interpreter" for many years could be found at Colonial Williamsburg. In 2019, he appeared daily at Monticello. Listening to him speak for 90 minutes was an incredible experience.
I'd love to see him in a conversation with those in favor of Critical Race Theory. He gave a 20 minute answer to a black woman who asked him about slavery. When I saw her in the gift shop, I thanked her for her question. She replied, "I'm a school librarian in Manassas, VA, and what I learned from him is I need to read a lot more!"
He stated that the state legislature in Virginia outlawed the importation of new slaves in the 1790s, a good first step in my opinion.
