“Government prosecutors were few and far between in the early years of our former Republic.”

If you cut 25 billion out of the DOJ budget, it would get a lot of attention.

It’ll never happen because many conservatives love big government just as much as liberals. Many conservatives have no problem with police state activity, as long it doesn’t effect them personally.

Take for instance the drug war, the media starts creating hysteria about drugs, guns, gangs etc. Then the politicians and “law enforcement beneficiaries” start passing draconian laws......bye bye Constitution.

Yep, lots of conservatives are in love with "law and ordure" - when that is the very mechanism with which they'll be hanged.

The Left discovered one of the great weaknesses of our Constitution.

Own the prosecutors, the state AGs and the secretaries of state, and you can do anything you want.
