Since it is apparently legal to steal small amounts in CA, many employees are busy helping themselves to merchandise.

Target can’t prosecute them, but it can fire them.

Then they run short of employees and have to reduce hours!

It's legal to steal up to $950 in merchandise in California. That starts adding up REAL quick.

I have a student that works at Marshall's and she tells me that thieves come in with bags and are careful to keep the amount under $950- employees are told not to touch them and management won't do a thing, neither will security. The police won't bother with them.

I suspect that store won't stay in business long. Businesses have reported that thieves come in with calculators to keep the theft under the prosecutable amount.

I suspect more and more businesses will be driven out of business in California by this insane law.
