Families Fleeing California Bay Area Causing Housing Frenzy in Austin, Texas
Breitbart ^ | 6-29-2021 | Penny Starr

Californians are fleeing the state to live where they can find more affordable housing, better schools, and a more rural lifestyle. A large percentage of them are choosing Austin, Texas.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported on the phenomenon of more people opting for permanent telework in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic and the trend of people choosing to live in GOP-led states that didn’t impose draconian lockdowns:

Experts say Austin’s boom, particularly during the pandemic, has been accelerated by Californians and Bay Area giants like Apple, Facebook, Google and Tesla that are all hiring in Austin. Last year, a record 22,114 jobs were added from companies relocating and expanding in the region, including at least 5,000 from Tesla in its new mega-factory rising just east of Austin, according to the Austin Chamber of Commerce. Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale, podcast host Joe Rogan and Tesla CEO Elon Musk all made the California-to-Texas move during the pandemic. That’s a lot of newcomers looking for homes.

Last month, Josh and Jessi Rubbicco and their two kids joined the flood, moving out of the East Bay after seven years. They found a fast-growing neighborhood in southwest Austin called Belterra, where urban density gives way to lush green hills dotted with freshly built homes next to half-finished wooden frames. There are dance parties on weekends, bike and hiking trails and fishing ponds. Children can take a golf cart on wide, low-traffic roads to attend the local elementary school — parents optional, depending on age. In the Bay Area, it can take a year or two to secure child care. There’s no wait in Austin.

Yes, but then for some reason they’re still allowed to vote.

Why go from one Marxist shithole to another? Isn’t there any other nice city in Texas where Marxist and black racists don’t run, rule and ruin it?

They’re Californians. They’ll get to Texas, miss the poop on the sidewalks, and start pushing to attract the homeless population to restore the Cali vibe.

I actually know a few of the San Franciscans who have relocated to Austin in the last year. They’re actually mostly Republicans, but that likely says more about the sort of people I know than the transplants in general. LOL. On the whole, I’d imagine that the Californians whom Texas is gaining are likely a net detriment to the Lone Star State.

My daughter and my son-in-law just finalized their house sale today. Their realtor, who is also a family friend, told them he thinks they sold just in time. He said their are already signs of a slow down. This was in the Killeen area, not in Austin.

I plan to sell my home in Austin and move to Texas.

In my neighborhood, homes are now selling for $700+ a square foot. Insane.

live in California. the place is so libral that you have republicans that dont realize that they are spouting off classical libral talking points...just becouse some one in California tries to claim being middle road republican does not mean they are its just the Dems in this state are so corrupt you have classical libral not wanting to be associate with them. I actualy like the classical libral becouse they do have a code and are sane but they will vote in ways that will fuck up the areas they are fleeing to.

It’s conservatives who are leaving the state of CA for the most part. and yes there were large contingents of conservatives. Just drove through an area where there are still Trump flags everywhere. What turns states blue is the illegal aliens who block vote Dem like African Americans.

thats the real story, and challenge for GOP. Without the block voting of African American’s (93% + for Dems+ and especially Hispanic Americans-approaching 70%,) CA would still be the state that elected Reagan governor and nationally the Dems would have a little over 100 seats and about 10-12 Senate seats. At Least Hispanics don’t vote 90% dems

Just look at the states won by Trump in 2016 ,he won 32 states but only 4 have a population of Hispanic voters over 13%. Clinton by contrast won 28 states and only 5 had a Hispanic population of under 13%.

FYI: In CA, the Hispanic Population is now about 40% (and yes fueled by illegal immigrants and higher birth rate )and African American 12%.

I was born in Austin. What they don’t realize is that Texas has very high property taxes in the 2.5% range! The problem is that my fellow Texans don’t have the ability to change that because they can’t collect signatures to allow them to vote on it.

Here in Commiefornia my property taxes are about 1.025%... Thank God for Prop 13!

Of all the nice places to live in Texas why would Californians choose Austin?

Oh I get it. Austin is just like where they are coming from.

One needs to come from a certain sort of environment to settle in Austin in search of “a more rural life style”-I would think much of California, the D.C. to Boston corridor, Toronto, or Montreal.

Sort of like moving from Boston to R.I.

Something that makes sense for a very specific group of people.

They allow the homeless to camp anywhere in Austin. And it had the highest murder rate in the country for a while last year. democRATS begetting democRATS.

Ruining cities one at a time all over the US.

Come to Texas and it is 10-years before you can vote and you must pass a Texas civics and history test to prove you are a proud Texan and want Texas to remain Texas.
