Experts fear the 79ft-long torpedoes – dubbed Poseidon – could be detonated underwater to cause a radioactive tsunami and threaten coastal cities with waves up to 300ft high.

Given the fact submarines aren't the fastest, how would anyone on a sub survive the deployment and underwater detonation of one of these torpedoes? It'd be a suicide mission wouldn't it?

You may be using old fashioned torpedo capability thinking.

These monsters are probably ‘smart’, and have a hundred mile range (or more?), maybe hold position for days (weeks or months?), then finish the job, or abort and return to ‘mother’.

No.

It has a range of well over 1,000 miles as it is nuclear powered.

It’s designed to take out military ports and facilities.

Depends on the range and speed of the torpedoes. Also, they can be set to go into a circling pattern for very long periods while the mother sub evades.

Sounds like it. Are they really that long and how in the hell would you really use them?
