Hiding in a tree! Isn't that where monkeys and apes spend a lot of time?
Here is a weird detail I read once.
When there is a sudden loud noise or danger, men will turn slightly, square their shoulders and put up their hands or fists toward it.
If seated, as in a movie theater, women and girls with instinctively pull in their legs and hold their knees with their arms. If standing they will pull their arms in and hold themselves tightly.
This is supposed to be because our branch of evolution used to live in the trees. Predators would look for females and pull on their dangling legs to grab them and pull them down. Males would be ready to fight to protect the females and themselves.
