The rich are sucking up to the party because they think it will save them from having their luxuries, privilege and wealth confiscated. Eventually, they will come for you.

Venezuela is a good example. I used to work with a couple of fellows who were from there. In the 90’s they enjoyed a comfortable middle class lifestyle. They left around 2000 to come to Texas and will never go back.
The only rich people in those countries are the rulers.
