The Llano Chamber of Commerce has apologized for a Juneteenth marquee that caused controversy on Saturday.
The marquee read "Happy Juneteenth," followed by, "You're free. Stand up and live like it" and a reference to the Bible verse Galatians 5:1. The verse itself reads, "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."
Some residents were upset with the marquee. One KVUE viewer reached out, saying the marquee was "insensitive toward Black people" and "patronizing when it needs to [be] apologetic."
"It's saying freedom is given to Black people and their descendants do not know how to live free," the viewer wrote. "That Bible verse does not have anything to do with Juneteenth context."

apologize for being right?
then you did far more damage to the cause of freedom under God, then if you had not said anything about it in the first place. you just handed the enemy a great victory.
never give an inch. say the truth and stand by it come hell or high water.
The media, Hollywood and Obama sitting in the back office is overstaurating every network with this stuff....every commerical, news cycle, movie house and social media....along with all the college students flooding all sites. It's a full fledged campaign.....to force Americans to swallow.
It's hard to ignore but easy to just walk away or turn off.
“That Bible verse does not have anything to do with Juneteenth context.”
Actually, given the history of the Civil War and the abolitionists movements and the moves against Slavery in Great Britain by Wlberforce and others...that verse has far more to do with the Juneteenth celebration then most would even suspect. The complainants may know it; at least the demonic forces controlling them know it. Yet they don’t want blacks to know it lest they realize that the full force of their freedom comes from Christ and not from the suffrage of the nanny state!
Dreams of My Father was a return to an africa without reading, writing, history, use of math but keeping modern western technology. Think about that!
Do these idiots know it was Christian men who desired to, and finally did, end slavery?
“ It’s saying freedom is given to Black people and their descendants do not know how to live free,”
Nailed it - spot on. Many don’t accept or want freedom.
HISTORY: Not all slaves were freed by the Emancipation Proclamation, nor via Juneteenth. Only the slaves of the REBEL states were freed then. Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation was a wartime effort to split and weaken the South; he did NOT free any slaves in the Northern states. Slaves in the non-rebelling border states had to wait for the 13th Amendment, effective December 18, 1865.
“The slave doesn’t dream of being free, he dreams of being the Master”
