Trump spent like a drunken sailor. Articles like this dismiss the issues of a shutdown for months. Naturally there would be a massive difference on a rebound. If Trump continues into a 2nd term, there would be a increased size in inflation. Biden and crew will not do anything better, but this idea that the r’s are gonna reduce spending is a fantasy.

I never said the author blamed Trump. That was on you suggesting that I blamed the author on that. The writer did a great job of not bringing up the spending and covid bailouts under Trump.

My point was the spending that Trump did played a factor in the inflation we have today, combined with going from a dead economy to rising movement post covid.

The “Carter” inflation began under his predecessor - Nixon - and it included Nixon’s abandonment of the Breton Woods international currency agreement, that had pegged currencies to fixed rates (and the U.S. dollar to gold), and included inflation generating accommodation by the Federal Reserve headed by Arthur Burns (Nixon, Ford, Carter). The inflation binge began before Carter took office. It took deflationary action, via higher interest rates & less expansive dollar policy, by Federal Reserve head Volker, during Reagan’s term, to bring inflation down.

I am no fan of Carter, but Conservatives often forget that some “more competition” actions took place under Carter, such as deregulation of the airline industry and removal of the alcohol brewing prohibitions that had prevented the birth of the craft brewing industry.

If you listen to some of Carter’s words about too much government, you’d recognize how far Left the Dims have moved just since Carter’s days.

People are getting too excited about this.

It’s all “transitory”.**

I know this is true as I heard it from the Chairman of the Federal Reserve.

Unless he means a pause before we escalate into hyper-inflation.

**Note that what is never mentioned in these “transitory” memes, is that we never fall back to the old prices, only about halfway - if we are lucky.

WELL SAID!

Conservatives tend to be logical.

Liberals make decisions based on how they FEEL.

“Liberals are so incredibly obtuse they’re intellectually unable to comprehend the consequences of their politics. They cannot connect the dots between the policies of a fraudulent president and a collapsing economy. “

~~~
They do when they can’t afford to. When things are only moderately worse, like under Clinton, people can afford. Under Carter, people connected the dots.
"Our mortgage in 1980 was 14.5 percent."
Mine was 13% and my next door neighbors was 18%.
Buy it today, it'll cost more tomorrow mind set.
Not that I’m defending Jimmy Carter, but the inflation during his term stemmed from (A) LBJ removing silver from the coinage and (B) Nixon closing the gold window.
We were left with bottlecaps and scrap paper that the government requires us to use as money.
No one voted for Biden/Harris. The voters knew better. It doesn’t matter how many voters oppose the UniParty if thee UniParty counts the votes.
