Since the state’s mask mandate was lifted at the end of May, face coverings have started to come off — and stay off. But according to infectious diseases doctors, the return of facial freedom might come with some downsides, like a resurgence in cases of the common cold and the flu.

Which will be because they are not being counted as COVID cases any more.

I think the difference between the UK and Spain is that for a country its size Spain is massively dependent upon tourism. Given the choice they would probably leave things the way they are but they are desperate to get people back. Personally I don't care what their reasoning is as long as they get rid of the masks.

I live in a Spanish coastal town that isn't really dependent upon foreign tourists and its hotels are just reopening for the first time in about 7 months. That was 7 months of no work for a lot of people directly plus all of their suppliers. It's been a nightmare for them that was worse than the virus itself.

Last year at this time the hospital ER I work in was at near full capacity with Covid. I’ll never forget one night, in early June to be exact in the space of six hours we had four people expire from it.

Now we have had only two ‘’high risk’’ patients all month and that was two weeks ago.

Last night they were found to be negative and sent home. There hasn’t been a single Covid case since.

It’s over.

My guess from what I have read is those four who died did so with china virus rather than from china virus.

I completely agree. The problem is that all those Karens and Kens we saw being mask Nazis are also the parents who raised the millennials to expect and demand anything they consider harmful or just makes them uncomfortable to be eliminated from any contact with them. We're fighting two generations who insist on zero risk with zero tolerance and quislings in power who cater to them along with the hard left who see the opportunity, as they did with covid, to take away freedoms with the consent of half the governed.

Three were elderly, over 75 and in poor health. The fourth was a middle aged guy, around mid fifties.

That one was tough. His wife and three kids were at his side when he passed.
