While I’d have no problem marking the end of slavery in the US - that happened in December, not June. June 19 was merely the end of slavery in Texas

I pointed that out on another thread. Good luck on trying to point that out if you're Caucasian. Personally, I would prefer we celebrate President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation on September 22 (it became effective on January 1 but that is New Years Day).

How do we know they get 44 days a year off? I mean, how can we tell when they are working? as opposed to being on days off?

“I’m a state employee.
I get 13 state holidays (this includes double days, like Christmas Eve/Christmas Day), 12 sick days and 24 vacation days a year.
Feds are wienies.”

That’s 25 days not counting vacay.

I’m a non-gov employee.

I get 9 holiday days, 5 sick/bereavement days and 20 vacation days for 2021 (after over a decade with the company).

That’s 14 days not counting vacay.
