Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott formally announced the first step in his plan to build a wall along the state’s border with Mexico Wednesday, setting aside $250 million as a “down payment” to hire a project manager and contractors...
The governor also said that in addition to using state land to construct the barrier, he would also rely on private landowners and local governments to “volunteer” territory for the wall.
“My belief, based upon conversations that I’ve already had, is a combination of state land as well as volunteer land will yield hundreds of miles to build a wall in the state of Texas,” Abbott told reporters.
On June 1, Abbott declared a disaster in 34 counties on or near the border with Mexico, claiming that authorities were being overrun by “dangerous gangs and cartels [and] human traffickers.”...
On Tuesday, Trump announced that he and Abbott would visit the border region on June 30 to draw attention to what Trump described as his successor’s “grave and willful dereliction of duty.”

This is going to be a major political issue, and Trump and Abbot are likely coordinating of the effort.
If that is the case, the possibility exists that more resources might be brought to bear on the problem from outside of the State of Texas.
It could be a quite significant effort - Governor Abbot is talking about land for hundreds of miles being available to build in Texas.

DOWN
[Really, how tough is this?]

It’s going to be a HUGE issue to the Beijing Biden handlers. They’re going to lose their ever loving minds. “Immigration” is a federal issue, how dare Texas try to stop the illegal invasion. I don’t care what the so called experts say, it’s going to get interesting.
Nobody talks about how many politicians are in the cartels’ payroll.
I believe other states have tried things like this before, only to get slapped down by the federal courts, which always rule that only the federal government has the right to enforce border security. Hopefully Texas gets somewhere with it this time.
Trump should hand the Gov a personal check to add to the political pressure that is coming. And publicly encourage patriotic Americans with deep pockets and functioning brains to do the same.
It’s like building a fence next to an easement when you own the property. Just back up a 100 yards and build the Texas State Protection System within the states borders, enforce their own laws, and tell them Feds to pack sand.
10th Amendment all day long.
“Nobody talks about how many politicians are in the cartels’ payroll.”
“Cocaine is a helluva drug”.
