I sometimes use the VA clinic.

When I go there I've realized that if I can steer clear of what I believe to be Affirmitive Action workers, I can get descent service.
Otherwise it can be a nightmare.

Ran into that at the Las Vegas VA system. When they had check-in clerks, the blacks were always adversarial, i.e. I requested a change in info and was told "You're makin' me do all this extra work." (isn't that your job?)

After one skin doc was done with the visit, the black nurse left me lying on my back in the chair for 20 minutes. When I asked if the doc was finished, she said "Yes". Had I not asked, I'd still be there.

One time (only) I used the bus service run by the VFW down to Vegas. The black driver asked what time my appointment was and then drove all over Hell and Gone dropping off the others before getting to my destination. I was late and had to reschedule for a month later. When the same driver picked me up, he asked if I made it and I lied and said "yes". His face showed disappointment.

The VA there is like the League of Nations - never had a white person in 20 years - Orientals, Filipinos, you name it. The only ones I had trouble with were the blacks who all had an attitude, the rest are first rate professionals.
